Taking in the newly arrived friend’s sweaty appearance, Shane joked “You run all the way from UCLA?”
The tennis player shook her head while grabbing a water bottle out of the cooler sitting by the barbque, “Just from my place.”
“Dane, it is at least 95 degrees out today and you live at least 6 miles a way,” Bette stated, questioning her friends sanity.
The brunette finished the water in three bug gulps before tossing it in a near by trash can with a shrug.
“I thought you were working out with Harrison and some teammates,” Alice asked not liking the worried set of her friend’s brow.
“I did. Then I just parked my car at home grabbed my bookbag and ran here,” she replied taking off her aforementioned bag.
“You’re a freak,” Alice said jokingly, trying to get a smile out her friend. It was a running joke between the two. Alice would call Dana a freak and then Dana would say…
“Takes one to know one, Al.”
Dana peeled off her sweaty shirt, receiving playful catcalls from her friends before and kicking off her shoes and removing her socks.
“Wait Dane if you’re going to strip in front of us, let me get the ones from my purse,” Alice said trying to paddle over to the edge of the pool.
“I could go put on some stripper music,” Tina added.
“Ha ha you guys,” Dana said settling herself on a lounge chair clad now in a sports bra and her running shorts, just wanting a moment to chill before changing into her swimsuit and hopping in the pool.
“DAANNNAAA,” the blonde called from the pool, “stop being lazy and get in the pool!”
Not lifting her head, the brunette simply rolled it to the side to look at Alice, “Didn’t you just call me a freak for running 7 miles? Now you are calling me lazy.”
“Duh!”
“Don’t listen to her Dane,” Shane said sitting at the side of the pool with her feet in the water, “She’s been on that damn raft all afternoon and hasn’t even touched the water.”
“Not true! Not True,” Alice said affronted. “How do you think I’ve moved to oneside of the pool from another. Shane I am ashamed of you for telling such… EEEEEEEK!”

The Elaine Dance? Are you talking about this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xi4O1yi6b0 ? LOL… I LOVE Elaine… Do you have a picture of Dana teaching Al to dance? Yay for Dana finally realizing what we all knew. I wonder if she is going to do anything about it… I hope that this is the “something” (yes, I happen to agree with Shane, lol) that will motivate Dana to make some steps towards being out. Great update, anionayo! And just in case it wasn’t obvious yet, I really love the story :)
Too Late…I think that is my favorite line of this chapter. I mean drunken pirate is really good. But the other is romantic. Love the story can’t wait for more
The pool scene was a lot of fun. Loved D teaching A how to dance. You are doing a terrific job bringing them together. I have to disagree with AJ. imo, the pace is just right. As a matter of fact, I wish you could go back to their double dating. There had to be at least a couple of laughs. Well done and thank you, anionayo. Woo hoo! Now I am glad I had to work stupidly late this evening/morning! Love how you describe Dana at the beginning and all she has to go through and think about to hide her sexuality and all the frustration — so true. Dana’s ongoing reaction to the Lara break-up is very well portrayed, too. “Drunken pirate” — Hee! The interaction between all the girls at the pool was great. Love how Alice could read Dana’s mood. The impromptu dance lesson was genius. “Too late”, indeed. Excellent chapter, anionayo! Oh! And you and AJ better play nice, y’hear? ;-D

I’m really enjoying watching how you are building the relationship between Al and Dane…but im just a little impatient. GET IT ON ALREADY!
