“Yeah, it is probably best not to fuck your teammates,” Beth said sagely. “You seeing anyone?”
“Eh,” Dana said with a shrug before putting out another well placed honest statement, “I went out with this guy on Saturday who is starting at Pepperdine Law this fall. No chemistry.”
Dana walked back on the court, with Beth following her lead. As they took their positions, the boys decided it was time for their break. Scott had apparently caught the tail end of the girls’ conversation.
“I got your chemistry right here,” Scott yelled at Dana giving her a wink.
“Fuck you,” Dana replied.
“Any time, baby.”
“Dude, I’d be careful. Last time you said that to Dane you had to shave your head,” Harrison warned.
“Yeah, you make an ugly bald guy,” Jeff added.
As Dana and Beth started to work up a good volley back and forth, Dana was able to block out most of what the guys were talking about. Every now and then though, she would hear words such as dyke, bitch, fucking cunt. As Beth was getting ready to serve Dana overheard Jeff ranting about how this bitch preyed on his girlfriend because no way she’d go to a girl willingly when she could be with him.
Dana’s anger was building as he continued. Did he think he was the only one to ever be cheated on? Shit, it happens and you move on. Knowing that Jeff was talking about Shane just added fuel to the fire and after a few more minutes she snapped.
“For Christ’s sake, Jeff,” Dana yelled from the court, “Stop your whining! The bitch cheated on you- whether it was with a guy or girl it shouldn’t matter. It’s her fucking fault so forget her.”
Jeff shot Dana an angry look and said he was done for the day before collecting his things and storming off.
Soon, all three pairs of eyes were looking at her.
“You could ease up on your teammate,” Scott said.
“That’s rich, coming from you,” Dana said angrily walking over to the two remaining boys.
Scott shrugged, looking out on the tennis court, “He was gonna propose to her next week.” Looking from Beth to Harrison, Scott quickly told them that they were not to repeat that.

Yay for Dana finally realizing what we all knew. I wonder if she is going to do anything about it… I hope that this is the “something” (yes, I happen to agree with Shane, lol) that will motivate Dana to make some steps towards being out. Great update, anionayo! And just in case it wasn’t obvious yet, I really love the story :)
Too Late…I think that is my favorite line of this chapter. I mean drunken pirate is really good. But the other is romantic. Love the story can’t wait for more
The pool scene was a lot of fun. Loved D teaching A how to dance. You are doing a terrific job bringing them together. I have to disagree with AJ. imo, the pace is just right. As a matter of fact, I wish you could go back to their double dating. There had to be at least a couple of laughs. Well done and thank you, anionayo. Woo hoo! Now I am glad I had to work stupidly late this evening/morning! Love how you describe Dana at the beginning and all she has to go through and think about to hide her sexuality and all the frustration — so true. Dana’s ongoing reaction to the Lara break-up is very well portrayed, too. “Drunken pirate” — Hee! The interaction between all the girls at the pool was great. Love how Alice could read Dana’s mood. The impromptu dance lesson was genius. “Too late”, indeed. Excellent chapter, anionayo! Oh! And you and AJ better play nice, y’hear? ;-D
