    Becoming Dana Fairbanks Chapter 20

When Alice came to the surface of the pool after being displaced, she turned a few times until she found her attacker. “DANE!”

“You told me to get in the pool Al,” the brunette said innocently.

“Yes, get in the pool. Not jump in the pool, knocking me off my chair. You’re so dead,” the blonde said moving towards Dana to dunk her.

The athlete easily dodged her friend’s attempts, dunking the blonde instead. Before you knew it, Shane had been dragged fully into the pool and a full on splashing war was on until Bette put an end to it by announcing that lunch was ready.

“Don’t think this is over Fairbanks,” Alice said as they got out of the pool.

“Never Al,” Dana said before heading into the house to change into her swimsuit, rather than sitting in her soaked sports bra and running shorts.

A few minutes later she was back out on the patio and the ladies began their lunch talking about various topics when Tina inquired how Dana’s “date” went.

Shrugging she said, “It wasn’t the first ‘date’ with a guy I had to go on. Tom actually has a girlfriend, his parents just don’t approve. So we were up front about it and just had an okay time to get our parents off our respective backs. I think Alice had more fun.”

“Oh, so that is where you met Andrew,” Tina realized.

    “Who,” Bette questioned?”

“Alice’s new boy toy,” Shane said before taking a drink of her beer.

“Yeah, Andrew is Tom’s friend and Dana asked me to go with her because Tom was going to bring a friend so it was less like a date for them and just hanging out,” Alice explained.

“Then Alice spent the rest of the afternoon with her tongue down his throat,” Dana add making barfing noises.

Smacking her friend in the arm Alice continued, “He’s great. We’ve hung out or met up almost everyday in the past week and he asked me to go with him to this dinner gala thing for the firm he is working at this summer.”

“Do you and Andrew a favor and stay as far away from the dance floor as possible,” Bette warned with a smile causing everyone to burst out laughing.

    1. The Elaine Dance? Are you talking about this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xi4O1yi6b0 ? LOL… I LOVE Elaine… Do you have a picture of Dana teaching Al to dance? Yay for Dana finally realizing what we all knew. I wonder if she is going to do anything about it… I hope that this is the “something” (yes, I happen to agree with Shane, lol) that will motivate Dana to make some steps towards being out. Great update, anionayo! And just in case it wasn’t obvious yet, I really love the story :)

    2. Too Late…I think that is my favorite line of this chapter. I mean drunken pirate is really good. But the other is romantic. Love the story can’t wait for more

    3. The pool scene was a lot of fun. Loved D teaching A how to dance. You are doing a terrific job bringing them together. I have to disagree with AJ. imo, the pace is just right. As a matter of fact, I wish you could go back to their double dating. There had to be at least a couple of laughs. Well done and thank you, anionayo. Looking forward to your next post. p.s. thanks 25justagirl for the link.

    4. Hey… I’ve just got caught up with this story and I’m loving it! It’s great! The way you write their inner turmoil is amazing! Keep up the good work, you have me hooked x

    5. Woo hoo! Now I am glad I had to work stupidly late this evening/morning! Love how you describe Dana at the beginning and all she has to go through and think about to hide her sexuality and all the frustration — so true. Dana’s ongoing reaction to the Lara break-up is very well portrayed, too. “Drunken pirate” — Hee! The interaction between all the girls at the pool was great. Love how Alice could read Dana’s mood. The impromptu dance lesson was genius. “Too late”, indeed. Excellent chapter, anionayo! Oh! And you and AJ better play nice, y’hear? ;-D

    6. Goose you can ref for us because it’s ON there like swimwear! Moving on…Drunken pirate is my kind of something. I’m really enjoying watching how you are building the relationship between Al and Dane…but im just a little impatient. GET IT ON ALREADY! Just playing. thank goodness Dana is realizing she is falling for her bestie, YAY! Thank you so much for another great chapter anionayo.
