It didn’t really go on as long as it could have, and probably would have in the past. Most of them sensed Helena and Dylan’s desire to call it a night and be alone with the kids, and no one blamed them. Dana and Alice had been sharing looks all night, and were more than happy to hug everyone goodbye and head home.
By the time they got back to the apartment, Dana realized that she was feeling really tired. She supposed that was understandable, since it had been a big day. Still, she felt bad about having to stop Alice, who was in the process of trying to make out with her as they walked through the door. “Baby…I’m really sorry, but I’m exhausted,” Dana said when she managed to break away from the kiss.
Alice looked at her for a long moment, and then nodded. “Yeah,” she said gently. “It’s okay, baby. You had a big day,” she said softly, noticing the deep circles under Dana’s eyes. “Let’s go to bed,” she whispered as they walked slowly to the bedroom.
Dana was having some trouble believing how utterly exhausted she was. The fatigue hadn’t been this bad for quite awhile, and while she knew it had more to do with the events of the day, the lifting of the pressure about the commentary had really done a number on her. Both she and Alice knew that it was one of the after effects of having such a major illness, and it didn’t really worry either of them. Still, Alice was determined to take care of Dana, and made a silent promise to call the hospital tomorrow if Dana wasn’t feeling more with it. She planned on a lazy Sunday, though, since she figured they both needed it.
Alice took her time undressing Dana, and as exhausted as she was, Dana grinned and kissed back for awhile. In fact, she kissed Alice until she dropped off to sleep a few minutes later.

Alice woke up before Dana again the next morning, but since neither of them had anywhere they needed to be, she took advantage of the opportunity to snuggle closer into Dana. She tried to fall back to sleep, but the way Dana smelled sort of prevented that.

OMG, the return of the white oxford, YAY!!! I am glad to see Dana voicing her wants to Alice. Too bad Alice is still treating her like a victim, rather than a survivor. I’m sure they will work through it though. And there’s nothing like defacing a billboard to bring everyone together, haha!
“Socks decided to tag along, and jumped out of her cat bed to walk directly under Alice’s feet down the hallway.” I can’t stop grinning and love that Socks. On a more serious note, I totally comprehend the fear and concern A had. D was right about seeking help. Unfortunately A was forever so stubborn fixing things her own way. I hope she would change her mind going to stay with H for a few days, instead go seek professional help. I do agree that a short separation would do them some good. D also needed work on her anger and not explode like that each time they ran into a problem. I enjoyed the billboard scene with AlShaDane supporting each other. Thanks MT for another well written chapter which by the way make whole lot of sense.
Excellent chapter, MT! My poor girls… I can see both viewpoints. Dana must feel more alive than she has since leaving the hospital now that she has the possibility of getting back into tennis in some form. It must really hurt to have that negated by Alice’s treatment of her. That being said, she shouldn’t have lit into Alice like she did. Alice has a right to be concerned — especially the day after Dana was so exhausted. I am anxiously waiting to see where you take this. I know they are in good hands. Oh, and the sex? Hot! I hope the oxford makes frequent appearances. Thanks for the update!

Once again a late response, sorry ’bout that. Great chapter. I’m a little torn on whose side I should be. I understand both Dana and Alice. I get each of their argumentations, but I think after this chapter I understand Dana’s point a bit more. Can’t wait for the next chapter!b. ps.: Socks is cute!

I really loved this chapter. It’s unrealistic to think that if Dana had survived things would have been blissfully happy with no complications. You have created a story which allows us to see them as real people in the real world struggling with the difficult issues in their way…I love it and want more!!!
