the End of Rocks, Hard places and Rehab..

Shane: it pays twenty thousand, and if I am really good this time, I can do another shoot for thirty

Bette: so what’s the problem then? Isn’t that what you wanted, and this would be the easiest money that you’ve ever made.

Shane: yea, I know and it’s clean money

Alice: well, I think you should do it; I had fun the last time at your opening

Shane desperately waited for Carmen to say something, or Carmen’s approval which meant a lot to Shane, but she didn’t say anything.

    CHAPTER XXXV

Sloan must’ve seen a dozen patients of day four of her stay in New York; she didn’t do anything but maybe grab a bite to eat, check her email or watched T.V. She just went back to her father’s place. The next day was always busier then the next. One more week she thought and then it was homeward bound.

While sitting in her office updating her charts, her phone rang and it was Carmen.

“So a week goes by and you can’t call me”

“Sorry, I just came here and hit the ground running”

    “You could’ve texted me”

    “Yeah, I know”

“Why are you being so cold?”

    “I’m not, I’m tired”

    “So how is it?”

“It’s okay, busy a lot of park ave people”

    “Meaning”

“Meaning all they want is to do plastic surgery, no questions asked, they do it because their husbands want   bigger boobs or some want a different nose, or their spouses think their ass is too flabby”

    “So you miss L.A”

    “No”

“No, Carmen said with a surprised sound to her voice

“No, Carmen I miss you, and I wish you were here, and not over there. She trailed off

“I’m not with Shane; I am in my mother’s house”

“I never said you were with Shane”

“But I know that’s what you thinking

“Don’t put words in my mouth, but I have to go, tell mom I said hello

    “Why are we rushing “

I have to finish my charts, and then I got to go to the airport to pick up my father”

“Oh, okay” I will call you later then.

“Okay, tell your mom when I get back im coming for some food”

    1. Surgtech, I’ve been silently following along with your wonderful story for the last few days. I don’t usually comment, but I felt compelled to due so after reading this ending, or better stated — cliffhanger. Please don’t leave this story this way. If this is complete and it really truly is the “end”, then at least give the readers a sequel. I’ve always wanted to see Shane and Carmen end up together, but not this way.I can certainly appreciate the way that you have portrayed both of their characters in your story. You’ve kept them true to form, yet I can’t help but believe that Shane is now ready to commit and sacrifice her outlandish unfaithful ways in order to be with Carmen – the true love of her life. Since much of your story followed some of the storyline from the show, I think that toward the end, Shane had matured. The old Shane would have never allowed Phyllis to drive her away from Molly, but she wanted to spare Molly. She put her own selfishness aside, and let Molly go.BR>If you feel inclined to do so — sequel that is… I would like to see/read her fight for Carmen — prove herself to Carmen – admit her undying love to Carmen and make things right with Mrs. Morales.Nevertheless, if this really is the “end” and you have no desire to write a sequel, then I just want to thank you for sharing your story and at lease giving us an ending with the two of them together — loose ends and all…Thx,
