The call to her arms, Chapter 1

That gave her a few seconds to regain the slightest bit of composure, and trying as best as she could to hide her fear, she looked at him and managed a smile.

“Well, this is really silly…” she started, still pretending to search, “… But I seem to have forgotten them at my hotel… You see, I just arrived in Paris this morning, and I c…”

“You mean…” A cold and accent-tinted voice interrupted her, “… that you just arrived in the city and you actually don’t carry your identification documents with you?”

The owner of the dreadful voice stepped forward from behind the soldier, before he added with a smirk.

The exclamation could have come from any mother in the park calling out to her child, but in that very moment and the angelic sound of that voice, Tina heard her salvation.

“I have been looking all over for you!”

She saw the soldiers turn in the direction of the owner of the voice who was walking toward them. And she did the same.

What she saw took her breath away, and for a few seconds, she thought that the woman really was a mother actually calling her child. Because she couldn’t explain why such a beautiful and elegant woman would interfere in her misfortune and participate in what looked very much like a rescue.

But as she came closer, the woman looked into her eyes in such a way that not only was Tina convinced that the newcomer was really addressing her, but in those few seconds, and as she stared back at the gorgeous curly-haired brunette, a strange and warm feeling started to course through her and she suddenly felt dizzy. She didn’t know what it was but it was something she had never felt before. And it startled her…
