Masked Feelings CH 96 The Problem with Family

She had no idea how long she had been there, but it seemed like hours before she could move. And when she finally did, it felt as if all her muscles had seized up. Roxy had aged years in just a few months. Every time she wanted to give up, the voice drove her to continue to move. She looked around even though her eyes burned like hell and wouldn’t stop watering. It was hard to tell if her eyes were playing tricks on her because that’s what happened in the desert. You’d see things that weren’t really there… just like she had heard voices that weren’t there. Was she really going crazy?

She managed to get to her feet and tried to focus on the object that came into her view. It looked like possibly another trailer. Maybe someone would be there to help her. She didn’t know if she was close to bursting out in tears or laughter. As she came closer, her decision was easily made. Tears streamed down her face as she realized that she had been walking in circles. She cursed God and everyone that ever let her down. To bring insult to injury, David had left her a note…. "Home sweet home" as well as another dose for her trouble.

When Alice woke up, Dana was gone from her side. She hated when she didn’t bother to wake her up when she left the bed….even though they both know she’d go right back to sleep again. Alice wiped the sleep from her eyes and glanced at the alarm clock. It was another 10 minutes before it was to go off. A big groan escaped her lips. Even though she worked in the mornings, it didn’t mean that she was a morning person.

This was the big day. This was going to be her first day on radio. She still couldn’t believe she had made it this far. Maybe if this panned out, she’d find her way on television someday. Dana wouldn’t be the only one having "star" quality. Perhaps if she could make a bit more money, maybe it would take some of the pressure off of Dana. She seemed a lot more stressed these days, even though she didn’t show it outwardly to everyone.

    1. Holy moly!! Welcome back, brteyes!! I am sorry to hear what a rough year you had and hope that your father continues to improve. As to the chapter… It doesn’t seem like the time off has caused you to lose any of your skills. I like that you were able to provide an update that kept the story moving with just enough info so I didn’t have to go back and re-read. Love the additional info on Sharon. I have to wonder if there is more to her objections to the marriage. Poor Roxy. Yes, I said it. I don’t know how you come back from an experience like she is going through. Marco is shaping up to be a fascinating character. Loved more background on Roxy and Erika. Thank you for continuing the story even though the last line of the chapter makes me feel a bit queasy. Oh! And congrats to you and Danalicious. ;-D

    2. Well hello stranger, I was wondering if and when we would see you again :) May I say it’s lovely to have you back. I was more than a little excited when I saw an update to the story so I went back and read what I’ve missed! Im sorry to hear about you’re father and I really hope he continues to improve. I always think it’s lovely that you and Danalicious are together I really do :)Again Im so glad you’re back! I read the 3 chapters I need to catch up on and I have to say that the wait was worth it, I enjoyed every second of reading them. I have to say I am really intrigued by Marco and have a good feeling about him, am I right to or not? lol. I love the little bit of background your giving us with Roxy and Erika as well. Totally not suprised by Sharon’s reaction although Im dying to know what this secret is of hers!! Can I also say I don’t like the sound of the last line in this chapter, I take it David’s more than evil ways are going to come back into action with poor Alice and Dana soon enough … Ohhh!! Haha. Can’t wait to see another update when you’re able to give us one :D x
