Roxy – Maybe I do… maybe I don’t.. Just be happy it’s your face I’m not seeing.

Erika – Now that is progress. I thought you hated me.

Roxy – Would be counter-productive to hate you. I need my partner to graduate and everyone else doesn’t have your brains.

Erika – Wow… did you actually pay me a compliment? I’m so flattered.

Roxy – Oh great, if I knew it was going to go straight to your head…

Erika – You would’ve kept it to yourself.

Roxy – Wow, you just finished my sentence for me.

Erika – I think I’m beginning to know you more. I just wish you’d open up a little more and talk about yourself.

Roxy – And what, steal the limelight from you.

Erika – There is no crime in letting people know who you are.

Roxy – It makes you seem vain.

Erika – I’m not vain. I just have a very high opinion of myself.

Erika laughs.

Roxy – I bet if I looked up the word in the dictionary that your name would be under it.

Erika – And if I looked up the word secretive, your name would be all over it.

Roxy – Funny.

Erika – I was actually being serious. Do you have skeletons in your closet?

Roxy – What makes you say that?

Erika – You have told me absolutely nothing about yourself. Tell me about your family.

Roxy – I don’t have any.

Erika – Are you an orphan?

Roxy – No… I had a mother, but she died a long time ago.

Erika – I’m sorry. You do have a father though, don’t you?

Roxy – Nope… don’t even know who he is….

Alice – What’s going on?

Dana – We’re getting the hell out of here! Get in the car…

Alice – Now, hold on a minute. Talk to me.

Dana – I’m tired of this shit.

Alice – What did she say?

Dana – She’s totally against us getting married.

Alice – Come on, Dana… you can’t tell me you weren’t expecting this. At least your dad is on our side.

Dana – I don’t really know that since I didn’t stick around long enough.

Alice – Maybe we should go back inside and talk it out.

Dana – I’m not going back in there. My mother made her point very clear and she’s not likely to change her mind. I can’t believe how homophobic she is.

Alice – Well, look at the kinds of groups she belongs to. She’s definitely the republican.

Dana – In a jackass’ uniform…

Alice – Nice one, Dana… though I think you’re being a bit harsh.

Dana – I guess it’s a bit too much for her to see how happy you make me.

Alice – I’m sure she sees it, but for her it’s a lot to process.

Dana – It almost sounds like you’re defending her.

Alice – I’ve known your mother for a long time. It’s not like I’m blind to the way she talks about people… I’ve heard her. I just never want to hear what she says about me.

Dana – I’d just die if I ever was like her.

Alice – Our marriage wouldn’t last long, if that was the case.

Dana – I think if I were to ever change, I would’ve done it a long time ago.

Alice – I never want you to change… not ever. I love you the way you are.

Dana – And I love you too, baby…. Now and forever.

Alice – I hope you’re ready to be together forever, because it seems like it’s you and me against the world.

As they held each other in the driveway, There was a pair of eyes watching and ears that were listening to every word. If love was to be put to the test, this was one relationship that was going to be tried.
