Love Potions and Fate – A Fan Fic Challenge

“I don’t know what you’re talking about Jenny,” she said without turning around. “I’m just getting Tina’s ice tea, and she likes it with sugar.”

Jenny narrowed her eyes as she watched Alice pour the sugar into the tea. She could have sworn she saw Alice pouring something darker into the tea, but maybe her eyes were playing tricks with her.

“Okay Alice…if you say so,” she responded slowly, not entirely convinced that she was wrong.

Annoyed that Jenny had interrupted her, and concerned that the potion may not work because she hadn’t been able to empty the entire dose into the tea, Alice quickly finished pouring the sugar and picked up the glass, determined to get it into Tina’s hands before Bette arrived.

“Don’t you have something better to do than spy on people?” She snarled at Jenny as she pushed past her towards the table.

“Wh….what did you say?” Jenny asked, feeling a wave of dizziness come over her.

Alice stopped and glared at Jenny. “I said, don’t you have something better to do than get into other people’s business?!”

“Oh…” Jenny’s face softened and she shyly smiled at Alice. “I’m sorry, of course I do, and I’ll go do that now,” she said softly.

Alice cocked her head at looked at Jenny wondering what she was up to, changing her tune so quickly, but then remembered her mission and quickly dismissed the strange writer. “Whatever,” she mumbled and continued to her table.

Tina was rubbing her stomach as Alice put the glass of ice tea in front of her. “There you go T, the perfect glass of tea!”

“Thanks Al,” Tina responded, not acknowledging the play on words.

Realizing that Tina’s pallor was a shade paler than normal, Alice looked at her friend with concern. “What’s wrong?” she asked as she laid her hand on Tina’s arm.

“I don’t feel well,” Tina answered. “My stomach has been upset all day.”

“Well here,” Alice said, pushing the glass closer to Tina. “Drink some tea, it will help.”

“Thanks Al,” Tina responded, smiling weakly at her friend as she picked up the glass. Closing her eyes she tentatively took a small swallow, testing the flavor. However, once she felt the cool liquid on the back of her throat she took a much larger swallow, enjoying the taste and allowing the liquid to quench her thirst.
