Love Potions and Fate – A Fan Fic Challenge

Before Tina could respond, Alice piped in. “Ewww Bette…your suede boots!! She exclaimed with disgust. “You’ll never get the smell out!”

Bette glanced down at her now ruined boots, and then gave Alice an exasperated look. “Alice,” she snapped. “Who cares about my boots?! Go get Kit and tell her what happened.” Bending down she gently laid her hand on the back of the woman who was still bent over, moaning. Rubbing slow circles she whispered, “Are you okay to stand, or do you need a minute?”

Tina felt the warmth of the woman’s hand permeating her skin and spreading throughout her body. But, even that comfort couldn’t save her from the humiliation she felt for throwing up in the middle of the café, and in front of who she now knew, thanks to Alice’s outburst, to be the infamous Bette Porter.

“Oh God,” she groaned. “I can’t believe I just did that.”

“Hey,” Bette continued to rub soft circles into her back and handed her a handkerchief with the other. “It’s okay. Let’s get you somewhere where you can lay down, okay?”

Tina was mortified that this was what Bette’s first impression of her was going to be. Well, I guess I don’t have to worry about her ever wanting to fuck and duck with me, she thought, surprised by the disappointment that caused.

She allowed Bette to help her up, and was grateful for the strength of the taller woman as Tina leaned against her as they slowly made their way toward the back of the café.

Bette guided Tina in through the open door of Kit’s office, gesturing toward the bathroom. “There’s a bathroom through that door over there. Please,” Bette gave Tina a sympathetic smile. “use whatever you need. Are you still feeling sick, or would you like to lay down?”

“I..uh..” Tina stuttered as she fell into the deep caring emanating from Bette’s eyes.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” Bette said, responding to Tina’s hesitation. “Would you like some privacy? I could leave you alone if you would like.”

Bette unconsciously crossed her fingers hoping the answer would be no. She didn’t understand what was happening, but she had never felt so drawn to someone before. From the moment she saw Tina’s beautiful face…even before she had looked into her eyes she had felt a deep sense of connection. And, when Tina did look at her, there was no judgment…no ulterior motives. No looking at Bette like she wanted to strip her naked right there. When Tina had looked at her there had been caring, and kindness. Tina looked at Bette like she was more than just a body. In that instant they had locked eyes when she had helped Tina up she saw total acceptance…she felt like Tina saw right into her heart….and, for the first time in her life Bette was surprisingly at peace with that.
