Dana gave her the ‘Oh really? Thanks Shane’ look.

Shane couldn’t help but to tease her.

 “You’re welcome Dane.”

Dana shook her head.

“Careful there Shaney. She is Alice’s best friend don’t break her heart I don’t want Alice to come and whine at me.”

“Since when you care so much about Alice?”

“What?”

“You really started to have feelings towards her don’t you?”

Dana exhaled. She knew her friend wouldn’t let her go that easily so she nodded.

“Great!” Shane clasped her hands.

“If anyone knows about this I’ll kill you Shane.”

“I won’t disclose this to other people.” Shane smiled. “I knew she’ll tame you down Dana.”

“Yeah you are right then.” Dana said dryly. Deep inside her she was actually glad that Alice did have this kind of effect on her. She smiled to herself.

“Ok here we are.” Dana said as she pulled into the driveway.

They went to the living room and saw Susan and Alice sitting on the couch sipping wine.

“Hey.” Dana said.

“Hey.” They greeted back.

Alice walked towards them and stood beside Dana.

“Hi Shane. I’m glad you are willing to join us for dinner.” Alice said.

“Hey. Thanks for inviting me actually.” Shane smiled.

Then Dana and Shane walked up to where Susan stood. She smiled at the two.

“Susan this is my friend Shane. Shane this is Alice’s grand mother Susan.”

Both women exchange their greetings.

As if on cue Carmen came out from the washroom. She saw two figures with their back facing her. Must be Dana and her friend, she muttered. Alice smiled as soon as she saw her friend.

“Dana Shane this is my friend Carmen.”

Dana and Shane turned around to greet the Latino.

“WHAT?”

“YOU?”

Carmen and Shane said at the same time. They turned their head away immediately. Susan, Dana and Alice stood there dumbfounded.

“You know each other Carmen?” Alice asked.

“Oh of course I know her who doesn’t know her?” Carmen said sarcastically.

“Well thank you.” Shane said. She turned to Dana. “I need to go out for a cigarette.” Then she looked at Susan “I’ll meet you later ma’am. Excuse me.” She said politely before walking out to the private beach.
