Just The Girl – Chapter Twenty Six (a HYD-inspired fic)

“She has?” Tina blushed at the attention that she received from the kind lady. She could tell that the woman cared for Bette genuinely.

“Believe me,” Sonja wiggled her eyebrows. “She can’t seem to talk about anything else but you.”

“Its the same with Tina.” Jenny piped up. “She has it bad as well.” She laughed along with James and Sonja as Tina turned an even nicer shade of red.

“Oh, I think Miss Bette will be kicking herself on her behind once she finds out that you dropped by for a surprise visit and she wasn’t here.” Sonja shook her head and grinned. She could imagine her young master throwing a fit.

“She will. I have no doubt about that.” James grinned.

“Umm.. do you know where she is?” Tina asked tentatively. The two adults seemed oblivious to their little spat and she didn’t want them to suspect that anything was amiss between her and Bette.

Sonja shook her head, as did James. “Miss Bette left the house at an early hour this morning.” James answered.

“I went to her room to wake her up, but she wasn’t there. It was like she didn’t sleep there at all.” Sonja seconded.

“I see.” Tina nodded her head blankly as she bit her lower lip. Where could you have gone Porter? She sighed, beginning to worry for her girlfriend even more. Seeing the curious looks in James and Sonja’s faces, she cleared her throat and decided to go straight to the purpose of her visit before the two started asking questions. “Bette was absent today so.. uhm.. the homeroom teacher asked me to give this to her.” She stuck out her hand and handed over the white envelope to James. “Miss Richardson said that it’s.. umm.. it’s important that she reads this tonight.” Tina lied through her teeth as James eyed the letter in his hands with mild interest.

“I’ll put it inside her room.” Sonja took the letter gently from James. “Make sure she gets it.” She winked conspiratorially at Tina, women’s intuition telling her that what she was holding between her fingers was a love letter and not something school related.

    2. Wow! What an awesome letter by Tina. She clarified her feelings for Bette while at the same time telling her that she needs to stop walking away when it is convenient for her. I loved the drama! Can’t wait for more!

    3. Bette’s willingness to give it all up to be with Tina is amazing, but I see Tina’s fears as something they do need to face if they are going to be successful thwarting the evil Melvin.

    4. a story is not a story without a little drama, but blimey this story has got some,Bette should just go and talk to Tina because there is alot of making up to do ;-).loved the last couple of chapters PPS

    5. Aww, that maybe was the sappiest love letter in the world, but I loved it. I hope Melvin doesn’t throw Bette out of the house as well… I guess her friends would step in. All Melvin is doing is making sure he loses his daughter. Great chapters, Alchemy, thanks!

    7. I loved Tina’s making up letter-it was very romantic. Now they have to work together to prove to theirselves & Melvin that they belong together w/ or w/out money. Great job as always.
