Just The Girl – Chapter Twenty Six (a HYD-inspired fic)

“I’m sorry, ma’am. But Miss Porter is not at home.” The massive guy apologized as he hovered outside the open window of Jenny’s car.

“Is James in there?” Tina leaned closer to Jenny who was sitting at the driver’s seat and talked to the guy. “I just need to drop something off for Bette. It’s important..” Tina smiled at the guy, though her voice had that unmistakable lilt of urgency in it.

“Just a minute ma’am. I’ll go check.” The guy excused himself as he went inside the guard house and called the mansion. After a minute or two, he pressed the red button to open the gates and walked back out to the green Toyota. “Here you go, ma’am.” He smiled as he handed Jenny back their ID’s. “The mansion is just straight ahead.” He waved to the front with his hand as the girls said their thanks and drove right in.

Tina felt butterflies inside her stomach as she stared outside the window. She knew that Bette wasn’t at home.. but still, looking around this place reminded her so much of her girlfriend. It took them a few minutes before they reached the entrance of the mansion. As Jenny pulled up at the courtyard and parked her car, the huge and imposing double doors at the entrance of the mansion opened up and revealed a fine looking young man with side burns and an old, pleasant-looking woman beside him. Tina went down the car first and headed over to a smiling James.

“Hey James..” Tina greeted shyly as she extended her hand to the guy.

“Good afternoon Miss Tina.” James smiled from ear to ear as he shook hands with her boss’ girlfriend. “Miss Jenny.” He nodded his head and extended the same courtesy to the small girl who just joined them. “Oh,” He put up a finger as he dropped Jenny’s hand. “Before I forget. Ladies, I would like you to meet Sonja, Miss Bette’s personal chambermaid.” He motioned to the woman beside him as she stepped forward and exchanged pleasantries with the two teenage girls.

“The famous Tina Kennard.” Sonja beamed as she studied the beautiful blonde in front of her. Giving Tina the once over, she smiled at what she saw. Her ward had very good taste, she mused. “I’ve wanted to meet you for so long.” She reached out and touched Tina’s hand and held it between her own. “Our little Miss Bette can’t stop singing you praises.” She winked as James nodded his head in agreement.

    2. Wow! What an awesome letter by Tina. She clarified her feelings for Bette while at the same time telling her that she needs to stop walking away when it is convenient for her. I loved the drama! Can’t wait for more!

    3. Bette’s willingness to give it all up to be with Tina is amazing, but I see Tina’s fears as something they do need to face if they are going to be successful thwarting the evil Melvin.
