Just The Girl – Chapter Twenty Six (a HYD-inspired fic)

After a few minutes, a blubbering Bette slowly crawled out of her bed and began buttoning up her shirt and pants. Clutching the opened letter at her side, she grabbed her keys from the living room table and walked out of her chambers.. not bothering to hide behind her sunglasses anymore. Enough hiding. Bette Porter was gonna face the music now.

    Porter,

Bette Porter, CEO Porter Group of Companies.

Looks familiar? It should be. You’ve been scribbling that at the bottom of every essay, homework and book report that I’ve seen you turn in for school. When curiosity took a hold of me and I asked you for an explanation, you just shrugged your shoulders and gave me this answer: “I like the way it looks on paper.”. And indeed, you do. But I think ‘like’ is much too weak a word.. and that you kinda sold yourself short back there, because I happen to think that you LOVE how it looks on paper. As early as now, you can’t wait for it to happen. Who can blame you though? It IS your future, what you were destined to be. And you feel it, you see it, you smell it, you taste it. It’s fate.

Who am I to go against it?

$75,000 Jaguar XK, $3,700 customized Louis Vuitton handbag, $380 Hermés scarf, $262 Gucci sunglasses.

Once again, don’t they look familiar? As they should be. Written above are just some of the things you’ve purchased THIS week (at least those that you’ve told me about). There might be more, I BELIEVE there might be more, but I guess you’re the one who knows that best. Remember last Tuesday when we were driving through Rodeo and you just had to turn the car around for a little retail therapy? You spent almost $7,000 that day on clothes and other frivolous things. Let’s not kid ourselves, you love your money. You’ve had a lifelong relationship with it. You love to possess it as much as you love spending it. And no matter how much you try to tell yourself that you can live without it, how much of it is real and how much of it is just wishful thinking on your part? The villas, the cars, the clothes, the bags, the shoes, the jewelry, the billions of dollars.. the life of an heiress..

    2. Wow! What an awesome letter by Tina. She clarified her feelings for Bette while at the same time telling her that she needs to stop walking away when it is convenient for her. I loved the drama! Can’t wait for more!

    3. Bette’s willingness to give it all up to be with Tina is amazing, but I see Tina’s fears as something they do need to face if they are going to be successful thwarting the evil Melvin.

    4. a story is not a story without a little drama, but blimey this story has got some,Bette should just go and talk to Tina because there is alot of making up to do ;-).loved the last couple of chapters PPS

    5. Aww, that maybe was the sappiest love letter in the world, but I loved it. I hope Melvin doesn’t throw Bette out of the house as well… I guess her friends would step in. All Melvin is doing is making sure he loses his daughter. Great chapters, Alchemy, thanks!

    7. I loved Tina’s making up letter-it was very romantic. Now they have to work together to prove to theirselves & Melvin that they belong together w/ or w/out money. Great job as always.
