“It’s possible. We had a good life in West Hollywood. Kit has her café and nightclub business there which is doing very well. We have a family of friends that we’re very close to. They are an important part of our lives too. We made our home in WeHo for almost eight years before we moved to New York a little over three years ago.”
“What brought you to New York?”
“We both needed a fresh start. New York gave us that opportunity. I was offered a position as the Director of the Whitney Museum for a two year term. Tina wanted a career change and decided to go back to school for her masters and doctorate. But the main reasons for making the move were more personal than professional. We went through a very difficult time before Jason was conceived. Our marriage was falling apart. We thought having a child would save it, but instead it just made matters worse. Instead of bringing us closer together we drifted further apart during Tina’s pregnancy. After the miscarriage we were both devastated. We couldn’t find solace with each other; communication ceased between us and we grew even more distant. Tina went into a severe depression and totally shut me out. I did the unthinkable and had an affair. She found out about the affair before she told me that she was pregnant again. I didn’t even know that she was trying for another baby. When I had asked her about trying again she told me she wasn’t ready.”
“I may be a little naïve in the way of conception for lesbian couples but how is it possible that you didn’t know that your wife was trying for another baby?”
“She self-inseminated without telling me. Her reasoning was that she did it and waited to tell me because she was trying to protect me in case she miscarried again. She was almost four months along by the time I found out.”
“My goodness Elizabeth you had to be totally blind and oblivious not to notice that your wife was four months pregnant. I remember with my pregnancies after the first trimester my stomach just popped; to say nothing of the morning sickness and fatigue. There was no hiding it.”

Bat you have a way with writing that triggers my heart. I love to read that Maxine is a forgiving person. I’m sure she will be able to convince Bette to look differently at Helena. And I have a feeling that Angelica has a important part to play. Thanks for this update. You’re a gifted writer.

BAT I’m a little scared. Something is not sitting right with Peter? I’m glad Maxine has decided to come back to the U.S. Now with of this goin on do we see Greg changing his mind and starting a family of his own?
I finally catched up with this incredible story!
The reunion was everything i expected to be. Maxime sounds as a very remarkeble woman, loving, kind, forgiving and truly loves her children.
It will be hard for Greg to hear about why she left and under what circumstances he was concieved, but i can’t believe that the relationship between him and Bette will change, they were all victims due to that horrible man Melvin. Offcourse it will be a very big shock, but at least he grew up with all the love Maxime could give him, something Bette was denied.
Truly enjoyed the last chapters! Thank you!
Wanting to go to the states is going to be life altering for MAXINE because she left under extreme circumstances yet it would be best if she was closer to her children.Not knowing who or why someone wanted her dead is another problem.Telling KIT she had regrets shows compassion for the hurt she caused.Letting everyone know about the rape(s)will be hard especially for GREG ,being a child concieved from that will be tougher on him i imagined.thanks
