INT. – THE PLANET – MARINA’S OFFICE – NIGHT
[Marina leans against the desk with Jenny against her, rubbing her. Jenny moans and sighs.]
INT. – THE PLANET – NIGHT
[Alice and Shane are sitting at a table chatting. They see Tim walk in. Tim stands and looks around. Alice gets up from the table and ducks through the crowd. Tim turns to someone at the counter.]
Tim: Hey.
INT. – THE PLANET – MARINA’S OFFICE – NIGHT
[Marina and Jenny are still at it. Suddenly, Alice bursts through the door.]
Alice: (surprised) Uh…
[Oops, caught. Marina and Jenny stop.]
Alice: Oh…
[Jenny pulls Marina’s hand away from her and looks embarrassed and a little scared.]
Alice: Um… there’s no time for pleasantries, because Tim is outside, by the bar, so…
Jenny: (whispering) Ah, fuck.
Alice: No, it’s crowded, and he’ll never see you. (reaches hand out) C’mon. I’ll cover you.
[Jenny takes Alice’s hand. Alice leads her a few feet through the back and ushers her out a back door. Tim has his back turned and doesn’t see.]
Alice: (closes door) You’re welcome, by the way.
[Alice heads back to her table.]
INT. – BETTE & TINA’S HOUSE – NIGHT
[Bette walks in the front door. Music is playing in the background. Kit comes inside from the back, and sees Bette.]
Kit: Ahhh! Congratulations! Baby girl!
[Bette walks to her, snapping her fingers and smiling. They smile and hug.]
Bette: Who all’s here?
Kit: Oh, the usual suspects.
[Bette looks out the backdoor. Alice, Shane and Lenore sit by the pool. Dana and Lara are in the pool, swimming around.]
Bette: (to Kit) Hey, um… what did David have to say?
Kit: Oh… nothing… nothing much.
Bette: Kit.
Kit: (sighs) Oh…
[Kit pulls David’s letter out of her back pocket and hands it to Bette. Bette opens it and goes to read it. She flips through several pages.]
Bette: This is forms for a medical history.
Kit: Yeah, but he wrote something on it.
[Bette flips the papers over. There’s a small post-it note on the back with handwriting on it.]
Bette: He wrote you a letter on a post-it?
[Kit smiles uncomfortably. Bette reads it.]
Bette: (reading) “Dear Kit, I hope you are well. I need some family medical history for my application to a residency program.”
[Kit paces. Bette sighs.]
Bette: (reading) “I’ve enclosed a self-addressed, stamped envelope for you to send the forms. Grandfather tells me that you are in a 12-step program… and I want to offer you my support in that endeavor. I wish you success with the positive changes you are making in your life. Your son, David Waters.” (to Kit) I’m sorry.
Kit: Hey, you know I… I wasn’t around to teach him how to write a letter.
[Bette smiles at Kit sadly. Tina walks through the backdoor and puts her arm around Bette’s shoulder.]
Tina: You’re here!
Bette: Hey!
Tina: Hey!
[They kiss. Bette squeezes Kit’s hand and walks out to the backyard with Tina.]
Kit: Okay, go on, go on, get out there. I’ll be out there in a minute.
[Kit looks sad.]
