Mom and Dad stayed for their two weeks and in that time, we let Angie spend time with them alone. She spent the afternoon with them one day and came home talking about Granma and Granpa like they were royalty. A day at the park was so much more for her because it was with them and they in their enamored state gave her their undivided attention. Bette and I both felt comfortable allowing her to spend the night with them at the hotel and they were thrilled. She came back with Dora underwear, Dora umbrella and Dora tennis shoes. Mom and Daddy apologized for taking her shopping but after watching a couple episodes with her, they just decided to see what items were available. They were not prepared for the whole marketability of one cartoon character. It wasn’t over the top and Angie was happy so we were ok with their little shopping spree.
Bette and I went out for a nice dinner the night Angie had her sleepover. When Mom and Daddy asked her where she wanted to eat, she immediately said The Planet. Mom and Daddy hadn’t been there before but GPS took them to the front door. They were immediately impressed by not only the café but by how adored Angie was by the staff and patrons but especially by her aunts who all seemed to be there.
Mom told me later that they walked in and she panicked because Angie just took off. Daddy went after her and relaxed when he saw her throwing herself into Shane’s arms. It was repeated with Alice and Helena and again when she noticed Kit in the distance. Alice had invited them to join them and they got along wonderfully. Even after Angie was taken into Kit’s office to sleep, Mom and Daddy hung out with our family getting to know them better. According to Mom, she learned so much but most was stuff that I had already shared with her during our gardening.
When they left to go back to NC, I was sad. I knew we would eventually make the trip there because I wanted Bette and Angie to see where I was from. Alice would probably be going too since she had attached herself to Mom’s hip during her stay and invited herself out to see the country. Mom and Daddy thought that she was a hoot. They laughed with her stories because as Daddy said, you just never knew what would come out of her mouth. They liked Shane’s soft spokenness and obvious loyalty. Shane and Mom had talked about her past and trying to change her ways. Mom appreciated that they felt comfortable with her. They didn’t quite understand Helena because they only saw her briefly but they had no doubts of love for our family. It amazed Mom and Daddy that our extended family consisted of two exes but they saw that it really worked for us. Mom simply adored Kit. It was hard not to but she won them over immediately and they spent a lot time together once they discovered The Planet. She and Mom had a lot in common as far as how they treated their children and it was cathartic for them to have someone else to talk to. Daddy just went along for the ride enjoying himself.

We have 4 weeks left. I can’t wait. I love how Bette and Tina have opened themsleves up to each other. I also love how the parents have become important to both Bette and Tina. It is nice to see Bette asking Sam for advice and getting that advice. This is a wonderful beginning to a beautiful family.
Glad you had some peaceful time at the beach newy, and we have missed you! Awesome update – everything is in such a great place for them both…now, i feel a baby, a wedding and a honeymoon coming on…

This was a great way to start off my week of vacation…you posting another chapter of your wonderful story. Thanks and post when you can, but just know that sooner would be better than later.
Fantastic chapter and so happy to see this post, I loved every word of it.You are doing such a wonderful job writing this story and everything is going so well. A new baby, a wedding, and adding on to the house all at the same time. But they have talked about it and will continue to do so it should be alright for them. Those kinds of things just tend to be a tad bit stressful.
