Christian says, “First, I have something for you.” He removes an envelope from his jacket pocket and pass it to her.

“What isthis?”,Carmen asks ,surprised. She opens the envelop[e. “What is all this money?”.

“Two months of advanced pay, and extra money for the party on Friday”, Cristian looks up expectantly.

“The party on Friday?”,Carmen repeats, confused . “Cristian, yesterday was my first night at work, and let me tell you that today is Monday, which means….”

“…that was yesterday was Sunday”, says Cristian, imitating Carmen’s ironic tone. “I mean next Friday’s party at the club.”

“What party?”

“It’s Sasha’s birthday “,Christian says, forgetting that Carmen does not know her.

“Who the hell is Sasha?”.

“Sorry, I sometimes forget that so much time has gone by. Sasha is my cousin. She is a successful photographer. She works for all kinds of people- you know, modeling agencies, magazines, music companies. Anyway, she knows everybody.”

“You never mentioned your successful cousin”,Carmen says, biting her lip.

“It’s just that Sasha lived in different countries. When she turned seventeen , she settled down in New York. Three years ago when I arrived here; we ran into each other by chance .”Christian says, very seriously, “Yesterday I was speaking with her about you.”

Carmen asks, “What did you talk about?”.

“About your big tits and your firm butt!”Christian can’t contain his laughter, and Carmen amacks him on the head.

“I’m kidding! Seriously , Sasha promised to ask a producer friend of hers to listen to your demo. This guy is going to be at the party, listening your mixes.”

“This is too good!” Carmen jumps up from the chair to huge him, and kisses his cheeks, saying “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!” After a few seconds, Carmen’s eyes, so happy before, become sad and melancholy. The news is very good but she cannot enjoy the moment; something is missing -everything is missing.

“Carmen, please, you must be strong and try to forget her. It seems impossible in the beginning, I know, but after a while everything passes.” Christian leans towards and Carmen and caresses her face.

“I don’t know if I want to forget her”,says Carmen, sighing. “I know I should hate her for what she did but even though I try to,I can´t. If she showed up right now and she begged me to forgive her, I wouldn’t hesitate a second.”
