TIME WILL TELL IF WE HAVE MADE A GOOD DECISION (CHAPTER 2)

    “Yes, sometimes words are unnecessary.”

Shane begins to smile herself. “They made me wear a dress and ‘chachas’ for the “quinceañero” for one of of Carmen’s cousin. It was very funny.I never wore a dress before”.

Julia smiling ,”I am sorry to tell you that you wore them all the time when you were a baby.Although all OF them were blue or sky-blue.I always CHOSE Those colors because they match well with your green eyes…but the true reason was that I did not want you To look like the other girls…you know, pink clothes from head to Toe.I never liked that theme of blue for boys, pink for girls….It’s so stupid. So conventional. What are ‘chachas’ and “quinceañero”?

Shane says, explaining “Chachas are shoes and quinceañero is a celebration when a girl turns 15. Carmen says it’s like a bar mitzvah, but with tamales and a piñata.”

They remained there, comparing their pasts like two good friends. It seemed like time brought them a second chance. They know that, and decide to take advantage of it. It was not place for neither resentment nor reproaches.

    Meanwhile New York

Christian waits for Carmen in the same café as yesterday; he needs to tell his friend the good news. He offered to pick her up , but she refused. “I can take a taxi”, said Carmen. “Don’t think I am an idiot.”

Christian constantly looks at the clock over the front door while he thinks, `Seems to me I made a mistake.’

At last Carmen enters the café, wearing enormous sunglasses, hiding her eyes. Christian is on the verge of speaking, but she interrupts him. “Don’t say anything. I look terrible.”

“You look pathetic”, Christian reaches out and takes off her glasses.”Let me see them.”

Carmen immediately takes the sunglasses from his hand and puts them back on. “I didn´t sleep at all.”

“Obviously,” Christian says, smiling. “Some young lady kept you entertained until now?”

“No”,Carmen says, hitting her friend’s arm. “No more women for me”.

“Finally! God has listened to my prayers!”Christian raises his hands heavenwards. “Carmen is going to begin to look for men, which means that I at least have an opportunity.”

“Ha ha!”Carmen laughs. “I love you dearly, but that’s never going to happen “,she says smiling sweetly. “What was it you needed to tell me so urgently?”.
