“Tina, I’ll let you into a little secret. My sister loves you dearly but she is clumsy when it comes down to showing it. Give her time, be patient with her. From what she told me, she had a very rough time and substance abuse does leave its mark on a person. But way down inside, she is a good person. She’ll let you know in due time what her feelings for you are. For me, I don’t care who she loves as long as the love is true. I like you and I would love you to be my sister-in-law. My husband already has a soft spot for you and I can see why. Stay who you are my sweet.”

Kit held Tina’s face when she said that. She then stood up kissed Tina on her head and hugged her. She then excused herself and left the room. Tina thought about what Kit had said to her. So Bette was in love with her. She had no doubts about that. What she did noticed was that Bette had some problems with communicating. She smiled, Kit was right. Everything would be alright in due time. She looked outside and her thoughts were drifting away. That’s how Bette found her.

“Hey, sweetie, penny for your thoughts.”

“Huhh……….ohh goodmorning babe. Did you sleep well?”

“Yes I did, but when I woke up you were gone. Why didn’t you wake me up?”

“I guess it was late when you went to bed. So a little sleep in won’t hurt.”

“You’re so considered. Thank you babe.” Bette kissed Tina on top of her head and sat herself down. She was hungry. So after asking Tina if she wanted anything, she dug in.

Tina watched Bette eating. She shook her head.

“What….???”

“You’re eating as if it’s your last meal….”

Bette slowed down and then shook her head.

“It’s a heritage of my past.”

“Ohh, I see.” Tina remembered their conversation and the promise Bette made her make. So she didn’t ask how come.

Bette noticed the change in the atmosphere.
“Hey Tina, forget what I made you promise. That was stupid. That was me being insecure. You don’t have to ask me, I’ll tell you. And if there is anything you want to know about my past, please do ask me. You see………..the more I see you and think about us. The more I find myself being attracked to you.”
