“All right, Mom. I’m sorry I went for your throat. I’ve got to go now.”
“Please stay in touch with me and let me know what’s happening, okay? Stay safe, Christina. Know that I love you.”
“I will, Mom. Bye.”

Rick caught a glimpse of the front doors opening and saw Bette enter. Jesus, she’s got everybody visiting tonight. Wonder why they wanted me to call in the first place…just her freakin’ brother and her Lezzie girlfriend…
“Hey…howareya…lawyer lady has company…”
Bette narrowed her eyes at Rick. Tina didn’t tell her about expecting anybody this evening. She could feel her heart start to pound.
“She does, um? Anybody I know?” Bette asked in as steady a voice as she could muster.
“Her brother. Big handsome guy. Wanted to surprise her – wonder if…”
“Yes, great. Okay. I’ll just head up there now.” Bette talked and walked, not even looking in Rick’s direction. Bette hated surprises and particularly now when it concerned Tina.
Bette reached the elevators and kept tapping the button. Why is it every time you want the elevator to get here, it’s on the umpteenth floor and then makes a stop on every floor on the way down? Damn it…She was now punching the button with her finger. Come on…there’s three fucking elevators here!
Bette stared up and watched as the three elevators stopped at different floors. The one in the middle that she was standing in front of should hit the Lobby first, then the one to her left…no, the one to the right….She felt like she was watching an elevator race, for God’s sake.
There…the one in front of her made it first. The doors opened and a middle-aged couple still in conversation walked out. Bette politely as she could, pushed alongside them to get on the elevator. The doors closed in front of her. She took out her cell phone to call Tina first – then she would call 911. Of course, there was no freaking reception in the elevator…
Within a split second of those doors closing, the doors to the elevator to the left opened and out stepped John. He was on a direct, hard line path to the doors.

Its bad when someone who knows the law is stalking you. He didnt do any thing wrong Tina let him in he just kissed her. but a retraining order will keep him so many feet away and any phone calls. but can’t stop him from hiring other people to do his dirty work for him. Plux could be in trouble. thanks

John scares me, because he has already stalked Bette and now he is letting Tina know that he will not take no for an answer. Beautiful Poem as always.

It had been okay, but there never were skyrockets in flight.’ Sounds like Tina and John’s afternoon delight (or morning, evening, whatever) wasn’t too tasty to Tina. I swear no pun was intended…okay I’m a bad liar a lame pun was intended. You know it’s bad when someone who knows the law is after you. =/

Another awesome post Rene. This is such a great story! I love your skills – you have a profound ability to “take me there.” I feel like I’m standing right there watching it happen as I’m reading it. I can’t help but want to reach out and slap Rick and John and then drag Tina & Bette off to a safe haven. It seems to me that Tina would technically have a case for a restraining order – he did make sexual advances towards her – holding her close against him and then he kissed her on the lips…and him knowing Bette’s name really creeped Tina out – she needs to tell Bette about that. At the very least Bette should get Tina and herself out of Tina’s apartment now! What was Rick doing in the courtroom? And OK – Tina is an intelligent woman…she knows she is in danger due to the case she is working on, so why would she open her door without looking through the peek hole, or at least leave the chain hooked until she saw who it was? And asking the front desk to let her talk to whomever is wanting to come up…well, there all all kinds of ways around that. They need to get out of that apartment and report it immediately!! Oh, and did Tina’s mom meet with her long lost lover yet?
I totally agree with Amanda. Why is Tina still staying in her apartment? She should be either staying with Bette at hewr place, or they should be renting or subletting a place until the trial is over.
