Life with Mom and Tina Ch 43

“I know its just” Bette said hesitating.

“Its just you hate being out of the loop. I know but sometimes I need time to think things threw before I come to you.” Jess said. Bette smiled at her. “What?” She asked.

“Sometimes I forget how well you know me, and how much you are like your Dad.” Bette said.

“You think so?” Jess asked. She had lost a lot of memories of her dad over the years.

“I do. Like the way you smile and the way you look at me when I say something off the wall. But most of all its your patience and kindness. You are ever forgiving and even though you might not like to do it sometimes you all always do what is right.” Bette said.

“Was he really like that?” Jess asked.

“He was. He was the one who helped me start the gallery.” Bette said.

“I didnt know that.” Jess said.

“Yeah. That is one of the reasons it is so hard for me to let go.” Bette said.

“Why do you have to sell it? Cant you just hire some one to run it for you?” Jess asked.

“I guess I could.” Bette said.

“Please do. Lets just say in 5 or 10 years that I want to have a gallery.” Jess said.

“Is what you want to do when you grow up?” Bette asked interrupting her.

“I dont know but I cant play softball for the rest of my life and I do love it. I love to watch you work the way you get right before a show, and how passionate you get when see a piece of art you really like. Thats what I want.” Jess said.

“Nothing would make me happier than for you to run the gallery when you grow up but I dont want you to settle for that just because you want to make me happy.” Bette said.

“I dont want to do it because I want to make you happy I am doing it because I want to make myself happy. I have always loved the art world.” Jess said.

“So you dont want to play softball any more?” Bette asked.

“I didnt say that. I love to play. I dont know what I will do when I cant play anymore. I will probably play in college but I want to go to a school that has a good art program.” Jess said.
