Life with Mom and Tina Ch 43

    Previously:

“Mom the boys want to ride with us in the Jeep can we move the seats?” Shannon asked.

    “Yeah sure.” Bette said.

“Go ahead Jess she said it was okay.” Shannon said loudly. Bette and Tina turned out the lights in the gallery and shut the door.

    10:30 Night

Bette was sitting out by the pool alone. Tina was working, the boys and Angelica were asleep. Shannon was out with friends. Jess watched Bette from her window and decided to go talk to her.

Jess walked outside and sat beside Bette on the side of the pool and put her feet in the water.

“I thought you were asleep.” Bette said.

“I couldnt.” Jess said. There was a brief silence. “Are you really going to sell the gallery?” Jess asked.

“I think so.” Bette said looking at Jess who was staring at the water.

“I dont want you to sell it. Not that I dont want you to be the Dean at Art College I just” Jess said.

“Would this have any thing to do with the story you told Shannon earlier tonight?” Bette asked. Jess shrugged her shoulders.

“I dont know maybe.” Jess said.

“Jess if that is the way you felt then why didnt you say anything?” Bette asked.

“Because you were truly happy for the first time in a long time.” Jess said.

“How did you know that?” Bette asked.

“I could see it in your eyes. They way you acted when you were around her and how you seemed to be daydreaming afterwards. To be honest I didnt completely understand so I asked Al and Marina if there was something wrong with you and they explained it to me.” Jess said.

“Well I am glad you have them to answer your questions. I know that there are things that you dont feel comfortable talking to me or Tina about.” Bette said.

“Its not that I dont feel comfortable talking to you about them its just that the answers that you guys give and the answers that everyone else give me are.. Well different.” Jess said.

“I think I understand.” Bette said.

“And besides I usually eventually talk to you guys about it any way.” Jess said.
