“What is it?”
“I’ve got a flat tire..” Bette grumbled, looking at the tire on the front left side of her precious ’53 Corvette.
Sam listened patiently until Bette finished her litany of curses before speaking up again. “Do you know how to change a flat tire?”

“What?”
“I said, do you know how to change a flat tire?”
“Yup.”
Cocks eyebrow. “You do?”
“I do.”
Snort. “I don’t believe you.”
“Of course you don’t. You’re a skeptic, it’s your job to doubt.”
“Oh ha-ha. Funny Kennard, very funny.”
“Really? I’m glad you think so Porter. That’s just my attempt at sarcasm; you should wait for my take on levity.”
“What, so you’re a comedian now?”
Shrug. “My dad thinks I’m pretty funny.”
“Your dad’s too nice.”
“He laughs at every single one of my jokes..”
“Yes, but he also laughs at every single thing you say, funny or otherwise.”
Pout. “Well.. that’s true, but-”
“Sshh..” Puts finger over Tina’s lips. “Okay my dear comedienne, enough silly talk. Let’s get down to business..”
“Get down? Right here?” Looks around and whispers. “Porter, you know I’d love to but we’re in the middle of the street..”
Rolls eyes. “Jesus.. mind out of the gutter Kennard! I was talking about this..” Points at DeeDee.
“You wanna do it in there?” Lifts eyebrows in surprise before squinting eyes and tapping chin in thought. “I.. hmm.. I guess we could. Its a little cramped but that only means closer contact right?” Giggles bashfully and playfully swats Bette’s arm.
“What the hell has gotten into you today?” Scratches head.
“Hopefully, you.”
“What did you say?”
“Nothing..”
“Horny..”
“You know it.”
Looks at each other with raised eyebrows and knowing looks.
“I think it was the oysters we ate.”
“I think so too.”
“Baby, you think the aphrodisiac effect will wear off in an hour or two?”
“I dunno, why?”
“Cause I think that’s how long it will take for me to teach you how to change tires..”
“Oh.” Puckers lip in thought. “I think the effect will last for more than two hours.”

My eyes bulge out of their sockets…WOW…54 pages. Wow, I can only bow in admiration. Thank you. On the story, both are having a hellion on the break time, man I am having a hellion on the break time and not even part of the story. I guess we havnet seen the last of the wannabe musician back. What happens next? ;)

Thank you Alchy for such a wonderful and long read! You did a great job of weaving the scenes together. I love the Tina-Ken teasing, Bette – Sonja “recovery/addiction” moment, 3-step recovery for Tina, Sam/Bette’s conversation and the Tibette car. So very, very, very clever!!!! Ok…I sense that “Keith Arden” is somehow connected to a certain “Kate Arden.” Hm…looks like a black cloud on the Tibette reunion horizon. But…I cling to the hope that Ken’s almost secret sharing of perhaps an engagement is in the future. You know that small ray of hope is what is bringing your readers back!!!!! Get some rest Alchy…get your creative juices a break but come back real soon…we need our Alchy fix!

Your story always satisfies, Alchemy. You get some of everything in here, and it’s all fab. I loved this chapter. Here’s hoping that Tina can stick to #3 on her list, and I hope Bette can do the same. Great, great update, Alchemy. Thank you! :)
Brilliant chapter Alchemy – you always take such care with detail, emotion, characterization – amazing ;-) As someone said abt the previous chapter – one thing Bette still needs to learn is how to take Tina off that pedestal and treat her like an equal. Relationships mean sharing – both good things and bad – IMO that’s the biggest repair they need, the only truly important one. I loved seeing Tina & Ken again – what a great father daughter dynamic they have. I see Tina is still eating her pain, haha! The flashback was great and so was the bittersweet ending.
That was awesome, love seeing Ken and Tina together again.
