“Hm?”
“My feet hurts.”
“Uh-huh.”
“And you know what?”
“What?”
“My feet hurts.”
“Really now?”
“Mm-hmm. Tina?”
“Yes Gabe?”
“My feet hurts.”
“I heard you the first time.”
“It bears repeating. My feet hurts.”
Tina glanced behind her shoulder and raised a questioning eyebrow at the young man tidying up Keith’s cluttered desk. “Is there any particular reason why you’re sounding like a broken record this morning? Or did Sally hit you behind the head too hard again and screwed with your short-term memory?”
“Funny.” Gabe responded dryly. “I was waiting for you to ask me why my feet hurt – you know, like any other active participant in a conversation would do. Someone says this, and to follow through, the person he or she was talking to would ask why or what or how or even when. Unfortunately for me, you have very bad conversational skills so I have to pick up the slack.” He gave a shrug, sweeping the director’s junk into a trash bag.
“Sorry about that.” Tina answered sarcastically and rolled her eyes.
“So?”
“So what?” Tina asked from her place at the trailer’s sofa, keeping herself busy with the task she was assigned to do.
“Ask me already..”
Meeting Gabe’s expectant gaze with a weary one, Tina sighed loudly and gave in. If she didn’t give him what he wanted, he’d probably bug her about it all day. He was like Alice that way. “Fine. Why does your feet hurt?”
The guy grinned from ear to ear, happy that he was finally going to be able to say his piece. “Cause I walked roughly nine painfully long blocks from the subway to reach the set.”
“And-?”
“That’s it.”
Tina rolled her eyes and went back to work. “You should have hailed a cab.”
“But that would hurt my wallet too. And us interns have to be-”
“Stingy?”
“Practical.” Gabe corrected. “You know why I told you about my feet?”
“To make small talk cause you can’t take the sound of silence and you love hearing your voice?”
“That’s Sally, not me.” Gabe denied. “Anyway, I just wanted to make a point.”

this installment had me literally wheezing with laughter! so many one-liners i had to read again, they were just so good. so funny and sweet, our two stubborn soulmates – the maid scenario was a tricky proposition and you pulled it off brilliantly :-) this story is one of a kind. belated birthday wishes alchemy – i hope it was a great one – and i can’t wait for the next post

This was the first I have read of your story. I read this whole post in one sitting. I will have to go back and read all the other post. Nothing else is going to being getting done around here until I’m caught up. :)This was crazy fun in places. Bette is so mean and sarcastic but this has been a fun read. Thanks for the post.

Oh I haven’t laughed that hard in quite a while. Alchemy that was just an amazing chapter, all of it. There are so many examples of your unique humor from Bette’s admission of her love for Tina to Tina’s drooling conversation with Bette concerning her breath. Awesome. Thanks for posting I loved the read.
