If You Never Say Anything to Me ch. 3

As I left her office and she told me I wasn’t responsible for the death of the officer who had tried to help me, I was brought back to reality of why I was there. It wasn’t to ogle her but to really figure out what was going on in my head, get it to a point that I could deal with it and return to work. My response to her was much colder than I expected. I needed to talk to someone so I called Alice. As much as I loved her, I had to be desperate to call her to talk about a woman.

I didn’t tell her what was going on. I just told her I needed to talk to her. Her attentiveness since the shooting had harbored on being obsessive and she showed up at the house even before I had finished showering. I think because I was not out trying to bed every woman I met, she thought I was suicidal or something. I heard her yelling as I was rinsing my hair and I yelled back to her that I would be out shortly. I also asked her to make a pot of coffee. I dressed casually…something I did frequently with the exception of Wednesdays since I had nowhere to be. I walked out and found her sitting at the table with a cup of coffee already in front of her and the phone to her ear. She talked for a few minutes more as I flavored my coffee and when she saw I was done, she ended her call.

“What’s up Bette? You sounded frantic when you called and look so at peace now that I’m here after almost breaking every speeding law to get here.”

“Hey Al. That was you interpretation. I wasn’t frantic and you have too many points on your license to break speeding laws.”

“Well if my best friend who happens to be a police officer took care of those tickets of mine, I wouldn’t have points.”

I just sighed. We’ve had this conversation over and over again and she refused to believe me when I told her I didn’t have the ability to fix her tickets. It was not something that I could do and keep my job. If she just drove like a sane person, it wouldn’t be a problem.

    1. I really like this story, Bette needs to talk or she never will get back to work Nor will she get rid of her Dr. after the De. releases her she can ask her for a date. thanks

    2. Therapy just stinks in the worst way! tickled that you kept alice as her lovable self, lol… but hopefully bette will start to open up with the doc… :)PPS

    3. Maybe Bette will run into Tina at the planet…then she’ll know and open up in therapy. Alice is right if she gets better there won’t be the whole doc/patient thing to deal with and here won’t be any secrets from the past either! Can’t wait for more! PPS:)

    4. O.K. NAG, I’m definitely hooked on this story too. I’m thinking that Tina is going to have to suggest another therapist for Bette, so that they can get together without Tina breaking her code of ethics. This is such a good story!

    5. reading and compearing to the folder, can’t wait for the catch up, it’s fun to do it all over again though. Hugs for little G and his for now momma, Thanks so much for your talents. Md

    6. Liking it – except how will tina get around the fact that she shouldn’t date or sleep with a patient or ex-patient for years after the therapy??

    7. You’re posting so fast with everything I can’t keep up! Goose! Prolific Goose! Heheh…I just read all three chapters in a row…and I’m lovin’ it! Viva la difference! :)

    8. It is great that Alice and Bette are very close and that Bette can open up to her. When I read that Bette wanted to go the planet, I went back to chapter 2 to see what coffee shop that Shane and Tina went to. Could it be the same coffee shop? My great nephew is visiting my parents and I was able to play and hold him this afternoon. I actually got him settled enough to go to sleep. But I am lucky, no diaper duty.

    9. These two are so going to run into one another at either The Planet or at a local bar – then the therapy will end and the dating will begin…since Bette really hasn’t shared anything with Tina in the therapy setting, I think ethically Tina could transfer the case and work within the structure of her license. Great Story! Can’t wait for their next meeting.
