If You Never Say Anything to Me ch. 3

Nothing should have happened. It was a calm time in the city and I was the detective on a simple home burglary. There had been many in the area and we had a suspect. He was a dumb fuck. Actually he was a really good criminal and we probably wouldn’t have caught him but he dropped his wallet at the scene. His driver’s license led us to his house and inside said house, was thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of electronics, art, jewelry and weapons. All stolen. Most people don’t write down serial numbers but the owner of the house I had been at the previous week had but couldn’t find them. I was returning to pick them up to compare to the items we had found. As the door was opened, I smelled the meth processing inside and reached for my gun. The guy on the other side looked stoned out of his mind and already had his gun in his hand. He pulled the trigger before slamming the door shut. The pain was the worst I had ever experienced and I barely was able to make it back to my car. I radioed for help and waited.

As I felt myself begin to pass out, I heard sirens in the distance. That must have alerted the rest inside because as the paramedics tried to approach me, they were shot at. I was not able to move and they couldn’t get to me. They say in certain situations your life flashes before your eyes. My life didn’t flash before my eyes. I was pissed. I wanted to get the hell out of there and get on with my life. I was stuck though. Finally after what seemed like forever, one of the SWAT members slithered up to me. He was as low to the ground as possible. He grabbed me by my ankle and pulled me. It was cumbersome and painful but he got me out.

I was rushed to the ambulance, loaded inside and taken to the hospital. I was in surgery for hours. Although nothing major was hit, my spleen was damaged and removed and my kidney was bruised. I was later told that one officer was hit and killed and three suspects died. Two other suspects were arrested and one of the largest meth labs in on the west coast was discovered. The feds had to come in to help safely dismantle it. I was still in the hospital on the day they buried Officer Bragon. He was a 10 year veteran with a wife and a couple kids. I felt guilt almost immediately. He died helping me.

    1. I really like this story, Bette needs to talk or she never will get back to work Nor will she get rid of her Dr. after the De. releases her she can ask her for a date. thanks

    2. Therapy just stinks in the worst way! tickled that you kept alice as her lovable self, lol… but hopefully bette will start to open up with the doc… :)PPS

    3. Maybe Bette will run into Tina at the planet…then she’ll know and open up in therapy. Alice is right if she gets better there won’t be the whole doc/patient thing to deal with and here won’t be any secrets from the past either! Can’t wait for more! PPS:)

    4. O.K. NAG, I’m definitely hooked on this story too. I’m thinking that Tina is going to have to suggest another therapist for Bette, so that they can get together without Tina breaking her code of ethics. This is such a good story!

    5. reading and compearing to the folder, can’t wait for the catch up, it’s fun to do it all over again though. Hugs for little G and his for now momma, Thanks so much for your talents. Md

    6. Liking it – except how will tina get around the fact that she shouldn’t date or sleep with a patient or ex-patient for years after the therapy??

    7. You’re posting so fast with everything I can’t keep up! Goose! Prolific Goose! Heheh…I just read all three chapters in a row…and I’m lovin’ it! Viva la difference! :)

    8. It is great that Alice and Bette are very close and that Bette can open up to her. When I read that Bette wanted to go the planet, I went back to chapter 2 to see what coffee shop that Shane and Tina went to. Could it be the same coffee shop? My great nephew is visiting my parents and I was able to play and hold him this afternoon. I actually got him settled enough to go to sleep. But I am lucky, no diaper duty.

    9. These two are so going to run into one another at either The Planet or at a local bar – then the therapy will end and the dating will begin…since Bette really hasn’t shared anything with Tina in the therapy setting, I think ethically Tina could transfer the case and work within the structure of her license. Great Story! Can’t wait for their next meeting.
