“Hiya Angie,” Alice said enthusiastically as she ducked her head into the car for a moment. “Hey Bette, pop the trunk, will ya.”
Alice was soon settled in the back seat next to the little girl.
“What was that, Alice?” Bette asked about the package that was now in the trunk.
“You’ll find out. Hey James, are you still on the clock?”
“Off the clock, Alice. This is my very own free time.”
“And you still spend it with your boss. If I didn’t know that Bette doesn’t like the p….”
“ALICE.”
“Oh, well, I’d be worried.”
“Rest easy, Alice, since I mirror that.”
“Aunt Alice, why are you worried about Mama B?”
Alice glanced quickly at the rear view mirror and caught Bette’s angry glare. “Nao, Angie, I’m not worried about your mama. I was just teasing James because your mama makes him work so hard.”
“Do you make James work hard, Mama?”
“Angie, I like to work. Work makes people feel good.”
“And James earns an ‘A+’ from Professor Porter.”
Angelica tilted her head, her face scrunched as she looked at Alice.
“Aunt Alice is being silly, pumpkin.”
“Yeah, I’m just silly.”
“I like it when you’re funny.”
“Yeah, well what funny thing can we do?”
“We sing carols in the car.”
“You do? Do you have a favorite?”
“Mama B sings a funny song sometimes.”
“Really? Maybe Mama B will sing the song now if you ask nicely.”
“Mama B, sing the ‘Hippymus Song’. Please.”
“Sweetie, I bet Aunt Alice has a funny song you’ve never heard before. Don’t you, Alice.”
“Actually, Bette, I do.” Alice turned to Angie “Do you want to hear it?”
“Mama B can sing, too?”
“She won’t know this song. It’s all about a kid who is naughty. Your Mama B was never a naughty little girl. Your Grandpa Melvin would not have allowed it.”
“You knew Grandpa Melvin?” Angelica asked, surprised.
“Well, I met him a three times. James did, too.”
“Once when he visited your Mama B at work.”
“Was he nice?”

That was just as amazing and beautiful like your other stories. I have so missed your talented writing on this site. Can this be a possible return to the forum. I have so missed the “the wolve” story- “Backstory”. I was hoping that this was a version of that, but I am just as happy with the one I got.
