Fa La La La La La La La La
“Wait. The most beautiful sound he’d heard, but she was disqualified?”
“Yes, Shane.”
“Because it was a carol and not a song, right Kit?”
“Uh huh.”
“That sucks.”
“Well, Bette agreed and proceeded to share her opinion with everyone. Loudly, in her Bette-like way.”
“She cursed in the church?” Helena asked in surprise.
“Oh no. Those curse words of Bette’s are only short cuts, icing on the cake. She’s got plenty to say without them. She used every ten dollar, twenty dollar, even a few hundred dollar words in the dictionary to share her displeasure with the decision and to express her views on the quality of their intellect and musical taste and knowledge. She threw in a few comparisons of herself to various famous people who were underappreciated. Her finale was a harangue about their ignorance about all art and culture. Her final blast was her declamation that they were all philistines. She made Mrs. Reynolds cry.”
“That’s our Bette!”
“Good for her!”
“Yeah, well, it got her kicked out of the choir for sure. I don’t know how Melvin never found out.”
“What makes you think he didn’t.”
“Coz Bette is still alive.”
“Bette called me a philistine once,” Helena announced.

December 15, “C” Day
“Thanks for coming early, James.” Bette said as she locked her office door.
“No problem, Bette. Matt will get there just before we all start and we’ll ride home together.”
“Still…”
“It’s impossible to find parking for two cars.”
“Thank you making me feel better about it.”
“Do you want to go through your list again?”
Bette laughed, “I just did before I left my desk. So, those are the flashlights?” she pointed to the large cardboard box on James’ desk.
“Yep, and the instruments are right here,” James tilted his head towards his shoulder, indicating the backpack that was slung there.
“And the music booklets are right here,” Bette pointed at a box on a chair as she walked towards it and lifted it into her arms. “Let’s go.”
“Oh, we have to pick up Alice after we get Angie. Her car is in the shop.”

That was just as amazing and beautiful like your other stories. I have so missed your talented writing on this site. Can this be a possible return to the forum. I have so missed the “the wolve” story- “Backstory”. I was hoping that this was a version of that, but I am just as happy with the one I got.
