Fa La La La La La La La La
“OK, I’ve just sent you the video of our session, so you can use it to practice on your own.”
James’ “Great!” was accompanied by a series of incomprehensible mutters.
“Bette, is any of this related to whatever happened to you and that choir thing?”
“I don’t know what you are talking about.”
“Yes you do.”
“Nothing then is related to whatever Kit has told you.”
Kit huffed. “Sure is ‘reminiscent of’.”
Bette glared at Kit. “Fine, think whatever you want.”
“Hey Bette,” Alice interrupted. “Kit’s never told us the story. Can she now? I mean, we’ve been good and all, learning this new song.”
“Kit can tell you whatever story you want to hear. I, however, have got to get home.” Bette stood and gathered her jacket and bag. “Goodnight ladies and thank you for this.” She turned her head for a more specific goodbye, “See you tomorrow, James.”
Before Bette got to the door, Alice had already turned to Kit, “Spill.”
“Ladies, I gotta go.”
“James, you don’t want to hear the story?”
“I’d better not,” he laughed as he stood and began to leave.
“Brown nose!” Alice yelled after him.
“’Employed’ brown nose,” he called back.
“OK, Kit.”
“There isn’t that much of a story, just that Bette and choirs and caroling don’t mix well.”
“Details, Kit.”
The older woman sighed. “All right. Well, our church had a huge choir, 50 members, that was famous throughout Philly. It performed everywhere. I was part of it and Bette was, too, when she got older.”
“Singing in a choir doesn’t seem like a Bette’s thing. It’s kinda collaborative,” Shane observed.
“And it wasn’t. She scowled at anyone who hit a wrong note or was even the slightest bit off-key or missed a beat. It got to the point where the director used to have to force people to stand near her. If anyone else got a solo that she wanted, she would glare at them and they would get so scared that they’d forget the words and Bette would wind up with the solo that she wanted.”
“Some things never change,” Alice muttered.

That was just as amazing and beautiful like your other stories. I have so missed your talented writing on this site. Can this be a possible return to the forum. I have so missed the “the wolve” story- “Backstory”. I was hoping that this was a version of that, but I am just as happy with the one I got.
