Chapter XXIII – Empire State of Mind – Will to Power
“So don’t worry about telling her about what Fleming just told me. I’ll brief her about all of that.”
Tina nodded. Much of what Fleming said was cryptic to her. Except the part about Charlotte, because that was likely about her – something she needed to alert Veronica to, by the way. And the part about whatever that tech team had made under the radar: that could be the photo of Tina supposedly in bed with a man. Her friend who’d studied the picture closely also said that it looked like someone had overlaid Tina’s face carefully onto another photo. But he said the job had been done so carefully that one couldn’t tell without special software to separate properties of the various parts of the photo.
He rubbed his palms on his thighs nervously, as if to dry them. “Until all of this started, and before her run-in with the semi, Bette was really active with a few of the charities she’s been supporting for the past few years, right?”
Tina crinkled her eyebrows, confused by the sudden change in topic. And by Peter’s extensive knowledge about Bette outside of all this stuff regarding the gold. “Why do you ask?”
“If you could please hang with me on this for a bit, okay? I have pretty serious reasons for going down this path with you.”
Tina sat back, and played with her phone, thinking. After a minute, she answered, “Yes, Bette’s very active with the charities we support. No half-measures for her, as you know, with anything. Particularly with the charities she works with. She’s even gone out quite a few times on the field over the past few years. She made sure she had time for them, no matter how busy she got. If somebody in the charitable organizations she supported needed her help, she gave it. I remember there were a few times when she allowed other people to wrap up a business deal she’d worked hard on, and allowed percentages of the deals taken from what was due to her, to help out with one of the charities. Drove George crazy, at first. But he realized Bette had never put any deal, or him, in trouble because of something she’d decided to do for one of her charities.”

Thanks! Hope you are enjoying this one.
Best,

Thanks! I had a feeling Peter was going to leave Bette in his will! I think the shit is about to hit the fan. PPS
Seems to be coming to a head. Glad Tina is getting more involved. Enjoyed it, thanks
would like to see tom love with bette and bette this sexier than ever.
Wow good chapter now my head is spinning…….Hopefully we see things fall into place? As always keep the Tibette safe.
WOW! is all I can say about this incredible story of intrigue and romance and mystery. Its the book I can’t put down with all that goes on page after page. I’m so loving it with all the characters and the twists and turns in the storyline. Bravo for creating such an incredible story!
OK. first things first. Tina make someone investigate Peter’s medical claim. Make sure the villains have not discovered the fact that Bette’s “redhead” friend has been in two public places at the same time on different ends of New York city. And when it is time to “grab the canned peaches and head for the bomb shelter” team Tibette ensure everybody knows where the two safe havens are located. Things are getting a bit “dicey” Great writing, I love it
Canned peaches — so funny, love it!
Thanks for the comments over the past few chapters, ladies. Approaching the end; hope you’ll continue to let me know what you think, e.g., if it continues to flow for you.
