Chapter XXIII – Empire State of Mind – Will to Power
Peter smiled wryly. “She tried to play all of that down when we talked about those things. I tried to open a line of conversation with her, tried to talk about charitable organizations I gave money to. But she shut me down.”
Tina smiled back. “Doesn’t surprise me. We all have a public and private side, don’t we? And for Bette, all of that is something she’d consider her private side. Even our friends don’t know everything that she does in that area.”
Peter smiled again, and asked, “Or everything that you do yourself, right?”
Tina crinkled her eyebrows again, and leaned her head to one side, wondering how much more Peter knew about what she and Bette had been up to in their charitable activities. “I suppose I could ask you later about how you’ve learned about all of that. But I guess right now, I have to ask where you’re going with this, Peter?”
“Bottom line?”
Tina nodded.
“I want to know if you think Bette would be willing to manage my charitable giving.”
Tina frowned. “I don’t know. Have you asked her?”
Peter shook his head. “I know she’s completely focused on all of the other stuff, and, I just haven’t been able to get her to talk about charities or giving.”
Tina nodded. She thought about what Bette would say if she’d been around. “Why don’t you keep managing it yourself?”
He pursed his lips. “I just think she can do better. Sometimes, to the organizations I give money to, I probably look like an ATM. And when I ask questions, I feel like people are only thinking, “He brings in money so let’s put up with him.”
“Or else they think I’m interested in seeing my name in lights somewhere. Which is the furthest thing from my mind. But, since I’m rarely around, whatever I say or try to do with those organizations doesn’t seem to affect anything or make much of a difference. I can’t follow-up, can’t really work with those organizations through anything I want changed. That’s the way it’s always been with givers like me.”
Tina smiled sympathetically. She’d heard the same from William once. “Feel like you’re just swimming with the tide?”
He nodded, “I’m just doing the best with what I’ve got. Same as everyone else I know. Doesn’t seem to do much, though. Bette, on the other hand, seems to be able to do so much more.”

Thanks! Hope you are enjoying this one.
Best,

Thanks! I had a feeling Peter was going to leave Bette in his will! I think the shit is about to hit the fan. PPS
Seems to be coming to a head. Glad Tina is getting more involved. Enjoyed it, thanks
would like to see tom love with bette and bette this sexier than ever.
Wow good chapter now my head is spinning…….Hopefully we see things fall into place? As always keep the Tibette safe.
WOW! is all I can say about this incredible story of intrigue and romance and mystery. Its the book I can’t put down with all that goes on page after page. I’m so loving it with all the characters and the twists and turns in the storyline. Bravo for creating such an incredible story!
OK. first things first. Tina make someone investigate Peter’s medical claim. Make sure the villains have not discovered the fact that Bette’s “redhead” friend has been in two public places at the same time on different ends of New York city. And when it is time to “grab the canned peaches and head for the bomb shelter” team Tibette ensure everybody knows where the two safe havens are located. Things are getting a bit “dicey” Great writing, I love it
Canned peaches — so funny, love it!
Thanks for the comments over the past few chapters, ladies. Approaching the end; hope you’ll continue to let me know what you think, e.g., if it continues to flow for you.
