Window of Opportunity ch. 45
“Hey Baby. How was the rest of your day?”
“After the parting comment you threw out there, it was hard to concentrate.”
“Aww…hate to hear that. Too bad you’re so principled. Is James coming tonight? I realized we picked something up for everyone else and didn’t get him anything.”
“Yes, he’ll be there. I stopped and got him a bottle of Scotch that he’ll probably start drinking right there if Alice goes off on some tangent.”
“Oh good. I didn’t want him to think that we don’t love and appreciate him.”
“You brought him food today. Trust me, he knows. He kept raving about you thinking of him with everything going on.”
“Let me finish putting these things away and I’ll wrap it too. My folks called and are here. Can you pick Angie up tomorrow so I can leave from work to meet them?”
“Are you sure that you don’t Shane or Kit to watch her so I can go with you?”
“Thanks Baby but I need to do this alone. I need to get a feel for them and I need to be able for me to say anything I may need to as well as them.”
She finished unpacking, kissed me, corralled Angie off the bed and went into the kitchen. I heard her laughter as I was changing and knew she had found the wine. By the time I was done, she and Angie were also finished and we loaded up the car and headed to the restaurant.
Kit and Shane were already there and seated and Alice walked in behind us. As soon as Angie saw her she reached up for her but I beat her to it and pulled her to me thanking her for all she had done for us. She told me that for us, she would do anything and picked Angie up. Their monologue started immediately. James came in as we started looking at the menus.
After we placed our orders, Tina asked if she could say something to which, all shook their heads or muttered agreement.
“Bette, Angie and I are so thankful that each of you is in our lives. For us to go from barely talking to engaged is amazing in itself. You all have been there supporting us individually and as a family. Your love of us is something that we are thankful for. As parents, we were scared when we brought Angie into the world. You have made that transition for us so smooth by always jumping into help when we need it or Shane, when you need a wingman. We would be lost without you. Bette, as you know whisked me off to Vegas and we were not there long but long enough to pick up little tokens of our appreciation for each of you. Please know how much we cherish you in our lives and how lost we would be without you.”

What an amazing chapter! So many beautiful moments…And so many remarkable spots to speak of…But I’ll restrain myself…My favorite line, I think, was: “I want to know what she’s feeling and what she’s thinking.” To me, that’s a picture of love…wanting to embrace the all of it. Forgiveness is a truly marvelous thing. Not sure I’m making any sense…but…Wonderfully deep storytelling. Thanks, nagster :)
Your story just keeps getting better with each Chapter!!!! Thank you
Yay they’re engaged:) Can’t wait to see what happens with the folks! PPS
What a wonderful chapter Newage. Having them loving one another so deeply after everything they’ve been through is truly wonderful. Now let’s see what the parents will do, although I think they have learned their lesson and will not be able to find enough ways to be nice and sweet to everyone and besides Angie will talk their heads off after she gets used to them, about a day probably. PPS
how can anyone not feel the love these two have for each other and their friends.hopefully everything will alright with tina and her parents! :)
Everything you wrote was so beautiful. The whole chapter was awesome. Love Angie Pink hat. Shane was so funny, saying that Angie was just like Alice. Motor mouth. thanks so much for posting
memorable writing, memorable TiBette, memorable in-love…now the parents…pps
Newage, you are on fire with this story. Seriously, you are an exceptional writer.
awesome chapter! I lol’d at Shane knowing one of the poker women hahaha!! You definitely have my vote for most romantic dates. Thanks.
So much is left to our interpretation on the show between B&T. Your writing gives us the reunion story that should have been told! Great chapter!
Time for another envelope?! ;o)
What a very Wonderful story ! Love the line: ” She was a woman possessed and since I kept up with her, I must have been too …” LOL makes me giggle!
Yes!!! Glad Bette managed to mumble that word out after recovering from her state of shock. It’s the only apt respone to Tina’s heartfelt proposal. Sooo happy for these two. Loved the gleam in Tina’s eyes when she looked around Dean Porter’s office. I have a feeling they’ll eventually do the deed there; it’s only a matter of time. *wink* If they can make it at the backseat of a cab, they can certainly make it anywhere! Loved the adorable motormouth Angie who must have gotten that trait from Alice through osmosis. Is this the calm before the probable awkward, stormy visit of Tina’s folks? Let’s see how that reunion will play out. Btw, I hope you’re not done with the envelopes yet. There’s so much more about their storied past that I want to find out like when did they decide to live together? What and where was their first love nest? How and when did they decide to have a family? What about their commitment ceremony? Just throwing some ideas. :> Thanks for a truly enjoyable chapter, newagegirl! PPS :>
