I quickly try to think of an explanation. "Er…I was… I was just writing my script for Thursday’s show. I guess I was lost in thought…sorry."

"Don’t be." It’s Bette, her understanding expression directed at me. "I think it’s happened to us all just recently."

"So what are you basing this weeks show on…" Shane asks curiously as she reaches across the table and spins my laptop to face her. She frowns slightly when all that greets her is the ever expanding internet chart. "Al, there’s no script here it’s just the chart!"

Damn busted!

"I know." I reply quickly as I turn my laptop back to face me. "I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I can’t seem to come up with a single idea. I am so fucking sacked."

"The great Alice Piesecki is struggling to come up with a single idea? I don’t believe it." Jenny teases as she slowly takes a sip from her coffee.

"Yeah well…I’ve had a lot on my mind recently."

"Dana?" The question comes from Helena but I know they were all thinking the same. I nod.

"Yeah…I guess." Her and Lara, my job, my drug dependancy…God my life is so fucked up right now! I look towards the Planet kitchen suddenly scared that Lara will appear through the door and demand to talk to me. It’s crazy really, I don’t even think she’s working!

"Okay, so how about we give you a topic for your show? I’m sure between the five of us we can come up with something." It’s Jenny again and I can’t help but notice the quickness with which she changes the topic from Dana. That’s one of the reasons accepting her death has become so difficult for me. My friend’s find talking about her almost as hard as I do so most conversations pass without a single mention of her name.

"Alright!" I agree. Even though I hate that Dana has suddenly become the proverbial white elephant, I understand why my friend’s can’t bring themselves to talk about her so I allow the conversation to move on. "What where you guy’s talking about when I wasn’t listening?"

"Love actually." Helena replies simply.

"What the movie?" I ask confused. "Cos’ I don’t think I can base my show on a movie…although it is all about connections!"
