What About Love? Pt 1
Part 1- Everyday Hurts A Little More
Love: A simple four letter word that every human on the planet spends their entire life searching for. An emotion that comes when you least expect it and hits you with such force that everything else suddenly becomes insignificant. A feeling that once embedded in your heart, you can never live without. Love is everything and without it nothing else matters.
I’ve never understood those weired fucking hippy types that claim that as long as you’ve got your health then you don’t need anything else. It’s total bullshit. They obviously don’t make the emotional connections that the rest of us make. Our entire existence is based on connections. Our connections or lack of, with our families mould us into the adults we become. Our connections with our friends help us enjoy life. They spark the good times and they pull us through the bad. Our connections with our bosses determine whether or not we get promoted or whether or not we have to write a fucking weekly script for our radio shows! However those connections don’t compare to what we’re really searching for. In the end we all walk blindly through this abyss we call life in an attempt to find that one ultimate connection. The one that completes us.
The chart that covers one wall and is fast threatning to take over my entire apartment only confirms my theory. For three years I’ve recorded all my friend’s various entanglements in an attempt to understand why we’re so desperate to find that connection. Take Shane for example, she’s the center of the entire chart. She’s slept with more women then I’ve had anti-depressants and believe me thats no easy record to beat. I always believed that although Shane lived by ‘the code’ and didn’t do relationships, that was ultimately the only thing she wanted in life. That was until she fell in love and left her ultimate connection jilted at the alter. Then there’s Bette and Tina, they spend seven years together in what appears to be the most solid relationship in the world until one day Bette fucks some carpenter. Now two years later Bette’s as depressed as I’ve ever seen her and Tina’s embracing her new found hetrosexuality.
