    Bette and Tina talk about the pregnancy, the baby, and how things have changed …

    "I guess that means …"

    "No sex," Tina whispered to Bette with a smile, before making her way over to the bed with their angelic baby. "That’s right, Momma B. Yes it is." They had a very similar way in speaking with Angelica, and it always made Angelica happy in the most natural way. It was in her eyes. "My sweet, sleepless baby."

    "I can’t even-" Bette groaned, falling onto the bed before she could finish her sentence. Face down, finally relaxed. Her eyes closed of their own accord.

    Tina smiled, and carefully got into bed with Angelica. "Did you brush your teeth, baby?"

    What was at first only mumbled was clarified once Bette turned onto her side to face their baby. "Yes." She was already on her way to sleep, too weak to do much else.

    As Angelica fussed in between her mothers, Tina kept one hand on her back and closed her eyes too. "Mmm … remember that night I didn’t let you sleep at all?"

    Bette could hardly even smile, but just managed. "Mmm." She remembered it well.

    "Bette? I’m tired."

    Taking a deep breath in and out, Bette reached out and brought Angelica in close to settle her down. "I know, T. Me too." Finally, Angelica seemed to calm, and she closed her eyes. "Me too."

    Tina smiled at how comforted Angelica appeared, and could finally relax herself. She dropped her head and couldn’t shift onto her back – it was too late, and she was too tired – so she slept in her semi-seated position, ever conscious of the baby at her side.

    When she opened her eyes again, she was confused. She didn’t see Angelica. Suddenly she bolted up on the bed, filled with concern.

    "Relax, I put her back in her crib," Bette whispered, tip toeing back into their room. "I AM allowed to hold her, right?"

    "Oh my god," Tina breathed, putting her hand to her chest. "I’m sorry … I just … I got so scared …"

    Bette quickly realized that her teasing was wasted on her semi-conscious wife, so she just climbed back into their bed. "No no, stay up for a minute." She reached for Tina as she leaned back again.

    "Uhhh …" Tina groaned very quietly, her body in pain and her mind still racing. "Wait … was she crying?"

    1. OMG! You captured all the emotions of being the parents of a newborn who are looking to reconnect sexually. The “mother monitor” made me laugh out loud as I thought back on how many times I thought the baby could hear me in the throws of passion. Too funny! Perfectly written.

    3. I’m not a mom, but have taken care of my little niece from time to time. Don’t know how my brother and his wife do it and still get up for work in the morning let alone anything else. Nice and very sweet story.

Tina’s anxiety as a new parent was so evident as was Bette’s especially when they got to re-connect and then in a state of bliss Tina asked if Angie had woke up. This physical pleasuring and release was so needed by both women. The demands of their child has been a complete revelation to them both. One that they are fully enjoying if without sleep.
