    “Shane,” Shane said, pointing at herself.

    Bette rolled her eyes. They both chuckled.

    “Tina left me a towel,” Bette smiled.

    “I can see that.”

    “What are you doing here? It’s a little early for you to be up?”

    “Haven’t been to sleep yet.”

    Bette raised her left eyebrow. Shane shrugged.

    “I was just about to get you out of the pool.”

    “You were? Why?”

    “Tina said you needed to be at the Gallery by 10. Plus you’ve been in the pool for a while.”

    “I have a lot on my mind.”

    “I bet 90% of what’s on your mind has to deal with a cute little blonde.”

    “Did she already leave?”

    “Yep! Which is why I’m here.”

    Bette nodded.

    “Last night…”

    Bette raised her eyebrows.

    “I haven’t seen you that happy in a while.”

    “I haven’t felt that happy in a while. It was nice.”

    “Yeah, it was. It was fun.”

    Bette nodded again.

    “So, what’s winning now?”

    “The love. And…the lust.”

    They gave each other knowing looks.

    “She always did have that effect on you.”

    “Since Day 1. I can’t think straight when I’m around her.”

    “Let’s be honest. You never think straight.”

    Bette laughed her signature laugh.

    “Very true. But you know what I mean.”

    “I do. The connection you have with Tina has always been intense.”

    “Yeah.”

    “You know you can’t have sex with her, right?”

    Bette’s eyes flew up.

    “Et tu Brute?”

    “What?”

    “Tina said her therapist told her we shouldn’t have sex.”

    “It’s settled.”

    “I’m so glad you and the therapist agree.”

    Shane laughed.

    “You know it’s for the best. You and Tina have a lot of shit to work through.”

    “Yeah. I know.”

    “Sex isn’t going to help you work through your shit.”

    Bette rolled her eyes. Shane smiled.

    “Get your ass in the house and get ready.”

    “Thanks, Shane. I couldn’t have survived any of this without you.”

    “You’re welcome. Now, go get ready. Please. Tina will kick my ass if you’re late.”

    “Okay.”

    Shane watched Bette take a few steps toward the house.

    “Hey Bette.”

    Bette looked over her shoulder.

    “Love you.”

    Bette smiled.

    “Love you too.”

    Bette finally heard the music playing. She opened the patio door and was greeted by the smell of coffee. She smiled when she saw the pastries and fruit on the island. Tina thought of everything. She always did.

      Slow steps but I’m sure that Bette will find the trust that Tina is not going to leave her.

    2. Thanks for the update. I could feel the panic in Bette when she saw the suitcase. Very understandable. And it’s good that Tina realized that Bette needed the truth and some reassurance that the situation was nothing to be scared about. But triggers like this will happen from time to time…

      I really want Bette to begin to trust Tina again. But these things take time. So take the time Bette. Take the time to get to know Tina again. And I mean to really know her. And for god’s sake trust yourself. Trust what you see in Tina and her responses. No one cooks you a dinner when they are about to walk out the door.

      • Yes! It’s definitely about trust. Tina needs to be patient and Bette needs to open up to Tina. It is going to be a journey. Therapy is going to brutal! Thanks so much for reading.

    3. OMG! The tension is so powerful! I know it will take some time for Bette to trust Tina again but must it be be so painful? Please don’t charge Tina! It was so good to see the pictures of them together so I feel their inspiration in your story. Keep the flow coming. They will make it back and it’s going to be epic. Epic I tell you!
