The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 30

On her way home, she called Kit and told her about her visit. Kit had been excited for her and wanted to download the app to use for herself. They talked about how fast Christmas was approaching and what toys Dylan wanted from his Auntie and or Santa Claus.

“Does he still believe in Santa?” Bette asked.

“Girl, he knows there’s no Santa. But he’s smart enough to know that if he acts like he doesn’t believe, the Santa gift train might stop running.”

Bette chuckled. “He’s definitely my nephew.”

“Yes he is. You know, Mom asked about you. She really enjoyed spending time with you on Thanksgiving.”

“Aww, please tell her hello. Send me her number and I’ll text her. She’s so sweet. “

Kit nodded. “She is. I get my kindness from her, but my personality is very heavy on Daddy. Mom is quiet and reserved. She really likes you. She always has. Have you thought about talking to Janice?”

Kit was referring to Bette’s mother.

“I have. I’m going to call her soon,” Bette replied. She had intended to call her earlier. In 2005 she had lived with her mother in a fancy NYC apartment. In that reality, Bette had been working an internship at The Met, which her mother had arranged. They had been a lot closer.

With the new memories, Bette had acquired, the old reality seemed further away. The idea of calling her mother made Bette nervous and so she’d avoided doing so. Perhaps her time spent talking to Dr. Burrows would help make that easier.

Bette stopped off at The Planet on the way home. She ordered a pasta dish for dinner and an iced black coffee. She sipped her coffee as she waited for her meal to be prepared. Looking around the familiar dining room, she saw Max standing up near a table at the back. She smiled his way, hoping she could catch his gaze and say hello. She looked closer and saw that he was talking to a thin woman with dark hair. She was sitting down at a small table for two. The woman looked familiar.

    It was Shane.

The same Shane that had given her a bottle full of drugs to drive home with.

    1. Wow….Bette has a real temper. Attacking Shane at the Planet is rather troubling. Is this a residual effect of the attack she received from Sidney? Violent behavior is never a good thing regardless of the reason or motivation. Bette needs more than therapy to stay sober, she needs a bit of anger management treatment as well.

      Great chapter…..looking forward to more.

    2. Thank you!

I’m must say that i liked how Bette resolved Shane’s problem in Planet. Sure gave her the cops would be better (can’t Tasha help?) but this was not bad also.

      Waiting for the next!

    3. Great chapter shows Bette has a breaking point even if it was directed at the wrong person. Shane’s just a supplier she didnt force them down anyone throat. The real person she mad at is Sidney. And so she will have to deal with Tina and her life. Hope therapy helps before she get to that point. Thank you

    4. Thanks for posting!

Somehow I think that Shane might not be supplier but one of her employees.
Bette’s therapist seems to be the right choice. I like the way Naomi works with Bette and I still hope that Bette will open up and tell her about the rape.

Could her attorney be the right one for Tina as well? Someone who finds a glitch in Tina’s prenuptial? I like the idea that Harry has an affair – or more than one – for some time now. Would be fun to watch Papa Kennard’s face when H admits it.

      pps
