The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 30

Alice didn’t like that Bette had kept this from her. “You made it seem easy before. Like alcohol and drugs was something you could take or leave. I didn’t know it was this bad.”
“Al, I didn’t know it had this much of a hold on me. But I promise you, I’m getting a handle on it. If I need you, I will let you know.”
Alice shook her head. “Just like you called me today? If Max hadn’t called, I wouldn’t even know what happened.”
Bette exhaled slowly. “You’re right.”
The brunette looked away. “This is hard for me, Alice. I don’t want to put too much burden on our friendship.”
“Bette, if you don’t reach out to me, I can’t help you. If something happened to you and I missed the chance to be there, I would never forgive myself.”
Bette nodded. “I’m sorry. I get it. I know I would feel the same way.”
“Friendship is a balance. But we’re there for each other no matter what is going on. So don’t shut me out. Please. Okay?”
Bette smiled. “Okay.”
Bette asked her. “Earlier, you said you’d call Tina for me. Do you trust her now? Should I trust her? Are you still worried?”
Alice shrugged. “I guess I’m still worried. I mean, I don’t really know her. But she does make you happy. And when you’re happy, who am I to complain? Just be careful. Because if she ever hurts you, I’m gonna have to pull a Bette.”
“A Bette?”
“Yep. A full, well-earned ass-kicking.”
Bette laughed. It felt so good to laugh.
Alice yawned and Bette wouldn’t stop nagging her until Alice agreed to go home and rest. When Alice locked her own front door behind her, she texted Bette to let her know she’d made it home safely. As she lay her head down her pillow that night, Bette felt a soul-aching desire to hold Tina in her arms. They had spent so many nights wrapped together back in her reality in 2005. She pulled a pillow to her chest, cradling it against her, vowing that she would call her attorney in the morning to see if the divorce proceedings could move any faster.

Wow….Bette has a real temper. Attacking Shane at the Planet is rather troubling. Is this a residual effect of the attack she received from Sidney? Violent behavior is never a good thing regardless of the reason or motivation. Bette needs more than therapy to stay sober, she needs a bit of anger management treatment as well.
Great chapter…..looking forward to more.
A hard Chapter to read.
Glad Bette’s getting help.
Thanks for posting, please post more soon.

Thank you!
I’m must say that i liked how Bette resolved Shane’s problem in Planet. Sure gave her the cops would be better (can’t Tasha help?) but this was not bad also.
Waiting for the next!
Great chapter shows Bette has a breaking point even if it was directed at the wrong person. Shane’s just a supplier she didnt force them down anyone throat. The real person she mad at is Sidney. And so she will have to deal with Tina and her life. Hope therapy helps before she get to that point. Thank you
Thanks for posting!
Somehow I think that Shane might not be supplier but one of her employees.
Bette’s therapist seems to be the right choice. I like the way Naomi works with Bette and I still hope that Bette will open up and tell her about the rape.
Could her attorney be the right one for Tina as well? Someone who finds a glitch in Tina’s prenuptial? I like the idea that Harry has an affair – or more than one – for some time now. Would be fun to watch Papa Kennard’s face when H admits it.
