(The return of) Love’s Calling – 4: Connecting The Pieces

Tina: (who was just arriving at work for the day because of appointments and
running errands) “Jerry, is there some sort of problem?”

Security Guard: “Actually, this guy is here to deliver a package to you.”

Tina: “A package for me? Are you sure?”

Security Guard: “That’s what he said. He said it had to be hand delivered.”

Tina: (take the few steps to Jonathan’s car) “Excuse me. Jerry said you have a
    delivery for me.”

Jonathan: (looking at the beautiful woman standing in front of him) “Are you
    Tina Kennard?”

    Tina: “Yes.”

Jonathan: (reaching for the package) “I have a package for you from Bette
    Porter.”

Tina: (surprised but yet excited at hearing Bette’s name reaches out and takes
    the package) “Thank you.”

Jonathan: “Your welcome but I was just doing my job.”

Jonathan left the studio while Tina walked back to her car and pulled through
the gate and then in to her reserved parking spot. As she walked to her office,
she had the package in her hand and wondered what it contained. She sat down at
her desk and opened the package. Inside the package she found a cell phone and an
envelope addressed to her. Tina opened the envelope and began to read what
    Bette had written.

Tina (otherwise known as the damsel in distress),

I hope your day is going well and that you will forgive me if this note upsets
you in any way, shape, or form. I wanted to tell you that it was a pleasure to
meet you the other night. Before you left the restaurant, I tried to explain
something to you about our meeting but somehow I never got the chance. I really
was hoping that I could convince you to meet me somewhere, so I can explain
about that meeting and perhaps get to know you better. You are probably
wondering by now, why I sent you a cell phone. Our first contact was left to
chance but this time I was taking no chances. The cell phone you received has both
my work number and cell phone number programmed in, should you decide that you
are willing to meet with me and talk. I will be anxiously awaiting your call.

    Bette

Tina smiled after reading the first part of the note and as she read on she
became curious as to what Bette needed to explain. She sat there and debated
about whether she should meet with her. Images of Bette had managed to drift
through her mind many times over the weekend and she wasn’t sure how she would
react to seeing her again. She sat the cell phone and the note aside and tried
to work but after about 15 minutes she gave up. She picked up the phone and
found the programmed number for Bette’s cell phone and pushed the call button.
As she sat there waiting for Bette to answer she thought, ‘I am only doing this
so I can find out what she was trying to explain and also to return her phone.’

Bette: (answering her cell phone) “Bette Porter.”

Tina: (hesitates unsure what to say) “Hi.”

Bette: (realizing it is Tina, starts smiling) “Hi. I am so glad you called.”

    Tina: “I got your note.”

Bette: (still smiling) “And the cell phone apparently. I hope Jonathan didn’t
have to break any laws to get it to you. He hasn’t made it back in yet and I
was beginning to wonder if he might be in jail.”

Tina: (smiling at Bette’s words) “No it just so happened he was as the gate
    when I was coming in.”

Bette: (thinking that is just another sign that fate intended for them to meet)
“Fate steps in again. So Tina, can I convince you to come and meet me so we can
    talk about Friday night.”

Tina: (still unsure but she can’t seem to help herself) “Okay. Where do you
    want to meet?”

Bette: (her heart beating rapidly at the thought of seeing Tina again) “Why
don’t you come to my gallery and we can decide where to go from there.”

Tina’s heart begins to flutter as a memory of “the voice” floats through her
mind. She thinks ‘Oh my God. She is “the voice. How could I have gotten hold of
her instead of my client? Could she be right? Could it be fate that had brought
    them together?’
