(The return of) Love’s Calling – 4: Connecting The Pieces

    Inside the restroom, Tina
splashes a little water on her face and is trying to get control of her
emotions and figure out what is going on. After several moments she realizes
that this feeling isn’t going away, so she decides she is going to go and tell
Bette that she isn’t feeling well and she needs to leave.

Tina: (surprised to see Bette standing there waiting on her) “Oh”

Bette: (softly as she is staring in to Tina’s eyes) “Are you okay?”

Tina: (lost in Bette’s eyes) “I’m not sure.”

Bette: (moving in a little closer to Tina) “Is it just me ordo you feel
    something too?”

Tina: (feeling the need to escape without answering Bette’s question but she is
unable to move away from Bette nor break their eye contact) “Iumreallyshould
checkto see if my client has shown up.”

Bette: (feeling the urge to kiss Tina, leans in close as if to kiss her but
stops just short because she knows she has to let Tina know who she is) “TinaI
think I might just be the person you have been waiting for.”

Bette: (pulling back slightly from Tina) “TinaI have to explain something to
you. You see, I think there was a mistake when you called”

Tina never heard Bette’s words because her eyes were focused on Bette’s mouth.
She could not break her gaze from Bette’s sensual lips and the way they moved
    when she spoke.

‘I wonder what it would be like to have those lips against mine?’ Tina thought
and it suddenly donned on her what she really was thinking and she began to
panic. ‘Jesus, what the ***** am I saying?’ Her mind was spinning with thoughts
that had never entered her mind and her heart was pulsing faster than ever
    before.

Bette began to speak to try and explain about the artist that she had been
waiting for when Tina suddenly cut her off.

Tina: (abruptly moving forward) “I.I have to get out of here.”

Bette: (stunned by Tina’s abrupt movement but moving aside) “Tinaplease let me
    explain”

Tina: (quickly walking towards the restaurant exit, briefly looking back at a
    stunned Bette) “I’mI’m sorry”

Bette is left standing against the wall, wondering what had just transpired.
Bette watched Tina walk away. She remained where she was, until Tina
disappeared through the doors and remained a memory in her mind. ‘Way to go,
Porter!’ Bette let out a dejected sigh and was saddened by the ending of what
    was such a promising beginning.
