    A Tibette beginning…

     

    “A German soldier who drinks is a man who talks!” Kit had said with a wink.

     

    Bette hated that proximity with the enemy, and she would restrict it at its minimum, but she also knew how greatly it served the cause and that’s all that mattered to her.

     

    That had brought Tina back to the suspicions she had had toward her savior that morning, and she had suddenly been filled with guilt and regret… She had recalled her smile and the depth of her eyes, and a shiver had run down her spine.

     

    Shane was a younger woman who worked at the club with them, but more than anything, she was one of the most fervent fighters in the group. She had put herself at risk many times for the cause. Bette was very protective of her because of her young age, and Shane was her most loyal friend.

     

    They hadn’t met the other members of the group yet, but Shane had mentioned that they would probably show up later on. The blonde was very willing to meet more friendly faces, but she was mainly very curious to meet their leader she had heard so much about.

     

    Kit had talked briefly about how they would be able to help them, but Tina knew that nothing would be decided without Bette’s say in it.

     

    Sam had finished drawing and was now sitting on his mother’s lap. Tina looked at him sadly. He was exhausted… What kind of life was this for such a young child? She thought about her brother. Would he see his son ever again?… Tina started to feel the tears and stopped them immediately. She didn’t want to cry in front of Becky and Sam. She had to be the strong one… 

     

    She stood up and went to the kitchen next to the room they were in. She drank a glass of water and freshened up a little. She stayed there for a little while, enjoying the silence and the solitude that her sudden sadness had required.

     

    She was starting to head back toward the living room, when she suddenly heard some commotion in the hallway. Shane was talking to someone who had just arrived. Someone who replied…

    22. Sweet mother of pearl Kw – 20 pages to “set the scene”!?! It’s like Christmas come early (LOL). This is BRILLIANT! I’ve always had a fascination with WWII and Civil War based stories. The opening evokes an array of emotions that are so palpable and hint at the intrigue to come that it sucked me in right away. I’m looking forward to seeing where you take us on this journey. All I can say is Godspeed to our gals. Patiently but eagerly looking forward to your next chapter :)
