Being there, having fun with her, floating around in those transparent waters, smiling, laughing, touching, just brought us closer and closer together.
Back in the Jeep we stopped at a store in Kahului to pick up a choice bottle of tequila for tonight’s party at the Fullers and got back with just enough time to shower and dress. We were told it was casual so we both wore what was becoming the usual Maui fashion, tank tops and shorts with sandals.
Now this party turned into a bigger event than we thought it would be. The guests were all married couples, some in our age category; some older. We were charmed by several who brought us beautiful, fragrant leis. They put the leis over our heads , touched us cheek to cheek and said, “Aloha”. It really was a warm, and friendly custom.
People hung mainly in the kitchen area, just off our bedrooms, sitting at the table and the bar, spilling out onto the porch. They drew us into their conversations eager to tell us more about their island, even if most were transplants from the mainland.
As Bette and I mingled we drifted away from each other. I got into a conversation about the Hawaiian language that I knew I would use in my Post article. I was fascinated to know that their alphabet had only 12 letters in it. There were five vowels and seven consonants that included, h, k, l, m, n, p and w. Someone else claimed there were 18 letters with 10 vowels, the usual five plus that same five with diacritical marks. In any case, that explained why there were so many long words with repetitive vowels.
There was a lot of finger food available and the blender kept humming with Margaritas. Our hosts had speakers inside and outside with music playing just loud enough to be able to converse over it.
About that time I noticed that Kurt and Maggie began to pass a few ornate pipes around. No one seemed surprised. They just sucked the smoke deep into their lungs, held it there for a moment, exhaled and passed it on as if it was routine. I saw that Bette tried it and then smiled, nodding her head with approval, giving it to the next person.

Wooo Bette needs to feel close to S..woo. It’s finally starting I can’t wait.
September, Remember Bette said that something would “trigger” off a response if it was still in her. Well, look’s like the singer and his song got her motivated. Yikes! I can hardly wait to read your responses when the deed happens. Even the writer is excited!
Sissee, we are getting more and more ready to wait for Bette making the first move to S. The familiar song, the atmosphere throughout their trip together, all led us to think they are ready to be in each other’s arms. As quote from kb, “Can wait fot the next chapter”.
Okay I have to confes something….I saw there where about 7 or 8 views to go before number 300 ….so mmm *blush* I kinda viewed 7 or 8 times…I’m viewer number 300 woohooo so are you going to update now ;P
Azmama, Sorry, but what we have to remember here is that only TWO days have gone by. They arrived in Maui on a Wednesday and it is now only Friday. Yes, they have done a lot of things but even I have to admit to this big build up and I hope you will think the next TWO chapters were worth the wait.
No! Don’t stop there. :-) More, quickly, Siss.
