    A Lace story: Lara makes a decision.

     

    Lara shuddered inwardly as she recalled how angry Alice had been with her last night at The Planet when Jenny had accidentally let it slip that Lara had planned to leave earlier that day.  After Alice had walked away from her, Lara had felt certain that things had ended between them for good; more than that, she was sure that Alice would want nothing more than for Lara to leave for New York without ever speaking to her again. 

     

    But, at the moment, looking at Alice’s conflicted expression, nothing on earth would convince Lara to leave this spot until she had spoken to her. 

     

    However, just as the ceremony wrapped up with an emotional kiss between Bette and Tina, Lara suddenly felt a hand clamp onto hers and pull her out the front door.  Taken off-guard, she allowed herself to be drawn outside and was surprised to find that it was Papi who had grabbed her.  The brunette stood casually outside the main entrance, smoking a cigarette and looking at Lara expectantly. 

     

    “Hey, Lara,” she said with an idle smile.  “I saw you go in a couple minutes ago, and I thought I’d say hello once the show wrapped up.  I can’t stand these big romantic ceremonies – too many tears and false promises being made.”  She smirked sarcastically before continuing.  “So, I came outside for a smoke.  Want one?”  She held out her pack of cigarettes invitingly.

     

    “Uh, no thanks,” Lara said, feeling a little uncertain as to why Papi would have pulled her away from the ceremony.  She looked back through the open doors, where she could see the crowd of guests flocking around Bette and Tina to offer their congratulations.  “Actually, I should probably go back inside,” she said absentmindedly, searching the crowd for Alice but not seeing any sign of her.  “I was pretty late arriving, and I didn’t get a chance to see Bette and Tina before the ceremony.” 

     

    As Lara started to walk away, she was stopped cold by Papi’s next comment.  “What do you see in her, anyway?” she asked, flicking the last remnant of her cigarette onto the pavement and turning to face Lara.  “Alice, I mean,” she clarified.

    4. Gaah, I am in a fanfic tizzy. Updates rule, hope the next one is soon with this cliff-hanger. WHO’S she CALLIN’? Excellent description of Lara’s journey to the ceremony, when oh when will we get this much insight into her on the damn show? And I’m all giddy at the prospects of our heroines finally talking and adressing some logistical issues. I agree with Goldrun on the use of Helena, and also how you have Papi to tease out Lara’s feelings for Alice. Can’t wait for the next update! Please post soon!

    6. AWWW DO IT LARA! LEAVE NEW YORK AND STAY WITH ALICE! YOU BOTH DESERVE IT!! I can’t believe I missed the last couple updates…lame! But they’ve been great and I can’t wait to read more. YAY!!! You’ve done a great job, update soon love!

    9. Ok, just read the last two chapters. After the first one I was like Lara…NO!!! I would never had guessed she dissapaered because of Papi. The only reason why she’s interested in Lara is that she can’t seem to have her. But I’ve gotta say, Papi has a lot of nerves after the rejection she got when they all went out. Loved it that you referred to Alice and Lara in the final episode of S3 and filling in the blanks of what Lara was going to say to Alice. We’ll never know what it was, but I like your view on it. :D And don’t forget, Papi and Shane…hint, hint. :P

    11. OMG, no you just DIDN’T! leave us hanging yet again, that is! Great update…and LOL at Lara in a fistfight with Papi on the front steps {pauses to consider….really could have been intensely entertaining….but agree that it would have been a stretch} and to borrow a phrase from Mineralka….the use of Helena in this update…brill! oh…and btw, thanks for the sweet shout-out…So. I updated quickly to put YOU out of your suspense….return the fave? Alrighty truthfully…24 hours or one week…I’ll be here to read when you are ready to post! ta-ta!

    12. Great update. Quick, but, like Gold, all too brief. (Trust me when I tell you that is a compliment I rarely pay to anyone!) Can’t wait to see how quickly Lara takes care of “things” so she can come to Alice without that bicoastal baggage. PPS
