    A Lace story: Lara makes a decision.

     

    Lara’s eyes moved to the other side of Tina and froze when she saw Alice wearing the same dress shirt and vest combination that she had donned for Shane and Carmen’s almost-wedding in Canada.  She looked cute and utterly sexy, and Lara couldn’t take her eyes off her.

     

    Seeing the outfit again brought back memories of that night in Canada, when Lara had played cat’s cradle with Alice on the bench outside the hotel where the wedding was supposed to have taken place.  As Alice had begun to open up about how glad she was that they were finally talking to each other, Lara had interrupted her, feeling a sudden need to take the opportunity to be honest with Alice about her feelings.  Having thought about it ever since Alice had walked away from her at the hotel the night before, Lara had decided to tell Alice that she was falling for her, but that she was also worried about their growing dependence on each other.  She had hoped that they would both be able to express some of their mutual anxieties about what was happening between them in order to work through their problems together. 

     

    But, when they had been interrupted by Tina and Henry outside the hotel, Lara had lost her nerve.  And, she had never regained it, even after she had returned to L.A. with Alice.  Lara now saw that by remaining quiet about her fears, she had allowed things to continue to deteriorate between her and Alice until she had felt as though she had no other option than to leave L.A. for good.

     

    God, I’m such an idiot, Lara thought to herself as she gazed at Alice.  How could I have ever let myself walk away from someone like her?     

     

    Suddenly, Lara felt her breath catch in her throat as Alice caught sight of her and their eyes locked across the room.  Although Lara couldn’t quite read her expression, she thought Alice looked surprised, but also… glad to see her?  Lara tried to tamp down the hopefulness that grew inside of her at the thought.  Why would Alice want to see her again after finding out that Lara had thought about leaving for New York without any warning yet again just yesterday afternoon?

    4. Gaah, I am in a fanfic tizzy. Updates rule, hope the next one is soon with this cliff-hanger. WHO’S she CALLIN’? Excellent description of Lara’s journey to the ceremony, when oh when will we get this much insight into her on the damn show? And I’m all giddy at the prospects of our heroines finally talking and adressing some logistical issues. I agree with Goldrun on the use of Helena, and also how you have Papi to tease out Lara’s feelings for Alice. Can’t wait for the next update! Please post soon!

    6. AWWW DO IT LARA! LEAVE NEW YORK AND STAY WITH ALICE! YOU BOTH DESERVE IT!! I can’t believe I missed the last couple updates…lame! But they’ve been great and I can’t wait to read more. YAY!!! You’ve done a great job, update soon love!

    9. Ok, just read the last two chapters. After the first one I was like Lara…NO!!! I would never had guessed she dissapaered because of Papi. The only reason why she’s interested in Lara is that she can’t seem to have her. But I’ve gotta say, Papi has a lot of nerves after the rejection she got when they all went out. Loved it that you referred to Alice and Lara in the final episode of S3 and filling in the blanks of what Lara was going to say to Alice. We’ll never know what it was, but I like your view on it. :D And don’t forget, Papi and Shane…hint, hint. :P

    11. OMG, no you just DIDN’T! leave us hanging yet again, that is! Great update…and LOL at Lara in a fistfight with Papi on the front steps {pauses to consider….really could have been intensely entertaining….but agree that it would have been a stretch} and to borrow a phrase from Mineralka….the use of Helena in this update…brill! oh…and btw, thanks for the sweet shout-out…So. I updated quickly to put YOU out of your suspense….return the fave? Alrighty truthfully…24 hours or one week…I’ll be here to read when you are ready to post! ta-ta!

    12. Great update. Quick, but, like Gold, all too brief. (Trust me when I tell you that is a compliment I rarely pay to anyone!) Can’t wait to see how quickly Lara takes care of “things” so she can come to Alice without that bicoastal baggage. PPS
