    A Lace story: Lara makes a decision.

     

    “Oh, for fuck’s sake!” Lara screamed in frustration as she tried to put Jenny’s car into gear yet again.  The engine screeched in protest as she jammed in the clutch for what felt like the thousandth time. 

     

    “Come on!” she yelled again and shook back and forth, as though that would help.  With a frustrated sigh, she flopped back into her seat and hit the steering wheel angrily.

     

    “How did I get myself into this situation?” she wondered aloud, as she stared vaguely out her window at the cars whizzing by on the busy road.

     

    Actually, she knew exactly how: earlier that afternoon, she had found herself scrambling to get ready for Bette and Tina’s ceremony.  Having spent most of the day vacillating about whether she should make an appearance or not, she had eventually decided that she had to see Alice again before she left for New York.  She couldn’t allow things to end between them so abruptly without at least talking to Alice one more time.  She had decided that they both needed to stop running in circles around each other and actually be honest about their feelings once and for all. 

     

    On top of all that, the whole reason she had come to L.A. in the first place was to see Bette and Tina recommit themselves to each other.  At the very least, she wanted to witness the beginning of her friends’ newfound happiness together.

     

    But, by the time she had come to that resolution, she had discovered that she was already running late.  As she got out of the shower, Kit came by the house to pick up Shane and Jenny, who were going to the clubhouse early in order to help Bette get ready for the ceremony.  Originally, Lara had planned to travel in with them, but now that she was an hour behind schedule, she decided to tell them to go ahead and she would follow a bit later.

     

    “You can take my car if you want,” Jenny had offered just before she and Shane headed out the door. 

     

    “Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Shane asked apprehensively.

     

    “I’m not that bad of a driver,” Lara replied with a laugh.

    4. Gaah, I am in a fanfic tizzy. Updates rule, hope the next one is soon with this cliff-hanger. WHO’S she CALLIN’? Excellent description of Lara’s journey to the ceremony, when oh when will we get this much insight into her on the damn show? And I’m all giddy at the prospects of our heroines finally talking and adressing some logistical issues. I agree with Goldrun on the use of Helena, and also how you have Papi to tease out Lara’s feelings for Alice. Can’t wait for the next update! Please post soon!

    6. AWWW DO IT LARA! LEAVE NEW YORK AND STAY WITH ALICE! YOU BOTH DESERVE IT!! I can’t believe I missed the last couple updates…lame! But they’ve been great and I can’t wait to read more. YAY!!! You’ve done a great job, update soon love!

    9. Ok, just read the last two chapters. After the first one I was like Lara…NO!!! I would never had guessed she dissapaered because of Papi. The only reason why she’s interested in Lara is that she can’t seem to have her. But I’ve gotta say, Papi has a lot of nerves after the rejection she got when they all went out. Loved it that you referred to Alice and Lara in the final episode of S3 and filling in the blanks of what Lara was going to say to Alice. We’ll never know what it was, but I like your view on it. :D And don’t forget, Papi and Shane…hint, hint. :P

    11. OMG, no you just DIDN’T! leave us hanging yet again, that is! Great update…and LOL at Lara in a fistfight with Papi on the front steps {pauses to consider….really could have been intensely entertaining….but agree that it would have been a stretch} and to borrow a phrase from Mineralka….the use of Helena in this update…brill! oh…and btw, thanks for the sweet shout-out…So. I updated quickly to put YOU out of your suspense….return the fave? Alrighty truthfully…24 hours or one week…I’ll be here to read when you are ready to post! ta-ta!

    12. Great update. Quick, but, like Gold, all too brief. (Trust me when I tell you that is a compliment I rarely pay to anyone!) Can’t wait to see how quickly Lara takes care of “things” so she can come to Alice without that bicoastal baggage. PPS
