Out of Closet (TiBette time-travel romance), Ch. 68, Finale part 4C: Chapter: Last curtain – The End is Here, finally.
Tina barely stifled a gasp and Helena smiled triumphantly. “Oh yes. Candace is not as damn as she looks. There was a letter and it was not destroyed.”
Bette clenched her jaw and replied, “Honestly, Helena. We haven’t the slightest idea what you are talking about. Sure, Tina found some old keepsakes when the mansion was getting renovated, including an old letter that was partially damaged. It was from my ancestor, Elizabeth.” Bette shrugged and added with a smile, “It is a private property and the court would agree that Candace had stolen it, so…” She left the thought hang in the air to let Helena make her own conclusion.
“I loathe the pair of you,” Helena hissed. Her voice almost broke but she composed herself. Her lips curved in a polite saccharine smile. “You are just sitting here, looking happy, and in love…but not for long. All your secrets will be revealed. Nothing lasts forever, including your happiness or your denials.”
She flipped her hair and walked away, leaving a faint smell of Penhaligon’s perfume in the air.
After Helena left Bette and Tina looked at each other curiously and then said in unison, “Alice…”
Only Alice could’ve incited such a fury in another person, especially so cold and controlled as Helena. Just as on cue, Alice walked out of the main entrance, all smiles and bounce in her step, her huge tote bag swaying on her shoulder.
“Alice, what did you do?” Tina asked calmly.
“I did nothing. I’m a delight, and make friends everywhere I go.” Tina folded her arms as she raised her eyebrows and Alice added innocently, “What makes you think I did something?”
“Helena was just here, mad as hell and raving like a lunatic.”
“Ah,” Alice nodded. “Okay, I did something. I told them that I made up the whole thing because I was writing a sci-fi novel. After Helena tried to mess with Tina, we tricked Helena into believing in it and orchestrated this elaborate plan to fool her because she was being an annoying bitch…and I said it right into her fancy, pretentious face. So, I’m safe to say that we are not going to be best friends any time soon.”
“Did they believe you?”
“I’m not sure but time will tell. I also glimpsed a document in the files that Kroll gave them after your interrogation was over. I stole a page while they were whispering about something in the corner. You should see me. It was genius.”

Thank you for the chapter!
But ohhh – no. I’m hopping Candace grabbing not Bette’s hand, but Helena’s. Both brunettes, both in dark cloaks. It could be, isn’t it?
Please post soon, we need epilogue ASAP! :)
it’s coming up on 01/20, a special day for me, so stay tune…and thank you for reading and commenting, i really appreciate this
Well, today already 01/20 :)
I should’ve been more clear: 1/20 in the evening because i was born at 8 pm so this is my b-day present to myself LOL
Happy Birthday then :)
Happy Birthday! Going to go read the epilogue. Thanks for this story – I’ve enjoyed it and will miss it.
Yes, i agree we need next part to know what happened with our girls!
Please, post soon!
And i also hope it wasn’t Bette’s hand!
Is this really the end? Not exactly a happily ever after ending in my opinion….
I think Alice’s explanation to the FBI is perfectly feasible. I would think that the FBI would have not put their criminal investigators on a case of claimed time travel but a special division who dealt with phenomena which were rumored to exist for which was not generally accept principles of nature – such as flying sauces, Big Foot, time travel, and aliens, etc. I would expect that the FBI would treat people like Helena and the Professor as slightly off their rocker…but this is fiction.
Now… I’m not sure that Bette and Tina have much control on where this portal takes them, but I assume its a single opening and a single exit. And reading about life in the 19th century and living it are two different things. Living in a community without electricity, indoor pluming, shoes designed to be worn on a left or right foot, no communication devices, and a life where the vast majority of time is spent acquiring money or food. A society where women are not just 2nd class citizens but for the most house holds domestic servants to men. A society in which homosexual attraction has to be hidden and never acknowledged even to the closest family member. And of course, the skill set need by Bette and Tina to survive? Being odd is not going to be their only problem. I’m not sure when you look at how hard that life would be, that running from the likes of Helena, Candace and the Professor is not a much better option.
Your story is unique and has been very entertaining. I for one have found the concept of time travel to be fascinating. But the thought of going to a time that was not my own and be trapped indefinitely would be terrifying. Bette finding Tina was her saving grace and was the only way she could truly survive the experience. But even this was not permenant, Bette had some ability to go back and then return. But my understanding is that the portal closes permanently with this last trip. At least that is what the Professor is predicting based on some science principles which have yet to be tested much less proven.
I know you have spent years writing this. I do appreciate it. I do hope that you do an epilogue and not leave us with a cliffhanger as to what actually happened. Our girls deserve a happy, peaceful and normal life.
Thanks for the story…
Thank you for the insightful comment. Yes, the last chapter was not the actual finale, that’s why the epilogue is coming up. Apart from being a teaser (a little bit ;) ) I also wanted to stay true to my story (the way some of my chapters were structured in the past.) Thank you for reading, i really appreciate it
I knew it was too good to be true that it was the end of the story !
Haha, you put that idea into my head when you suggested 50 parts of the finale. Alas, i can only manage 4. The epilogue is coming and that will a final end to the story. I really appreciate your comments. Honestly, one of the earlier comments you made (maybe 10-15 chapters ago (which probably puts it 5 years ago LOL), is one of the reasons that made me going…the other reason that i’m a stubborn foreigner that wouldn’t just never give up…thank you
What a gloriously intriguing masterpiece! Alice is fab in this one. Loving it and worth the time to await each chap!!!! BRAVA!!!!!!
Thank you, that was much needed words of encouragement…i really appreciate the comment.
