Out of Closet (TiBette time-travel romance), Ch. 68, Finale part 4C: Chapter: Last curtain – The End is Here, finally.
“Is it safe?” for the first time Bette showed how nervous she was.
“Relax, it’s just an MRI of the brain, not a brain surgery.”
“Bette is extremely claustrophobic,” Tina said, taking her lover’s hand for comfort.
Agent McKinnon shook her head at her partner remarks and said softly, “We are sympathetic to your issue, Mr. Porter, but it will only take an hour, at the most. It is perfectly safe and your friends can wait right outside.”
Alice raised her hand and asked, “If you believe I time traveled, shouldn’t I get my head tested too?”
“By all means, Ms. Pieszecki,” Agent Johnson smiled, revealing his yellow teeth. “If you insist.”
Bette opted to go first for her test. The technician offered her a mild sedative to help with claustrophobia but Bette refused. Tina and Alice watched through the window as half of Bette’s body went inside the scanner. Alice pulled her iPhone and began scrolling again, while Tina was glued to the window, watching her girlfriend.
“T, I had found something,” Alice exclaimed twenty minutes later. Tina turned around and Alice showed her an article she had found. “Apparently, about ten years ago professor Kroll published an article about electro-magnetic waves influence on the animate and inanimate objects, distorting their structural anatomy. The brain anomalies were recorded from some experiences on mice. He almost got his second Nobel price but lost to three old dudes for their discovery of superfluidity in helium-3.” She looked at Tina and bit her lip, “T, this is serious. If they find anything on Bette’s scan, we are screwed.”
“Hey, let’s not panic,” Tina sat down and looked over Alice’s shoulder to read the article. “Just because mice had some brain anomalies, doesn’t mean humans would too.”
“Yeah, but this is how it starts. First, the mice, then the humans. Soon our brains will be on a display at the Smithsonian with a note underneath, ‘Here are the brains of the fool who thought that the time travel was cool’ and next to Bette’s brain they say, ‘I’m with stupid’ with the arrow pointing my way.”
“You are being a bit dramatic, Alice,” Tina sighed, trying not to show how worried she was. “By the way, that reminds me. Helena mentioned the letter that we gave to Franklin to restore. He said it was destroyed and I always assumed that Candace had something to do with it. Helena confirmed that Candace stole the letter and it was not really destroyed.”

Thank you for the chapter!
But ohhh – no. I’m hopping Candace grabbing not Bette’s hand, but Helena’s. Both brunettes, both in dark cloaks. It could be, isn’t it?
Please post soon, we need epilogue ASAP! :)
it’s coming up on 01/20, a special day for me, so stay tune…and thank you for reading and commenting, i really appreciate this
Well, today already 01/20 :)
I should’ve been more clear: 1/20 in the evening because i was born at 8 pm so this is my b-day present to myself LOL
Happy Birthday then :)
Happy Birthday! Going to go read the epilogue. Thanks for this story – I’ve enjoyed it and will miss it.
Yes, i agree we need next part to know what happened with our girls!
Please, post soon!
And i also hope it wasn’t Bette’s hand!
Is this really the end? Not exactly a happily ever after ending in my opinion….
I think Alice’s explanation to the FBI is perfectly feasible. I would think that the FBI would have not put their criminal investigators on a case of claimed time travel but a special division who dealt with phenomena which were rumored to exist for which was not generally accept principles of nature – such as flying sauces, Big Foot, time travel, and aliens, etc. I would expect that the FBI would treat people like Helena and the Professor as slightly off their rocker…but this is fiction.
Now… I’m not sure that Bette and Tina have much control on where this portal takes them, but I assume its a single opening and a single exit. And reading about life in the 19th century and living it are two different things. Living in a community without electricity, indoor pluming, shoes designed to be worn on a left or right foot, no communication devices, and a life where the vast majority of time is spent acquiring money or food. A society where women are not just 2nd class citizens but for the most house holds domestic servants to men. A society in which homosexual attraction has to be hidden and never acknowledged even to the closest family member. And of course, the skill set need by Bette and Tina to survive? Being odd is not going to be their only problem. I’m not sure when you look at how hard that life would be, that running from the likes of Helena, Candace and the Professor is not a much better option.
Your story is unique and has been very entertaining. I for one have found the concept of time travel to be fascinating. But the thought of going to a time that was not my own and be trapped indefinitely would be terrifying. Bette finding Tina was her saving grace and was the only way she could truly survive the experience. But even this was not permenant, Bette had some ability to go back and then return. But my understanding is that the portal closes permanently with this last trip. At least that is what the Professor is predicting based on some science principles which have yet to be tested much less proven.
I know you have spent years writing this. I do appreciate it. I do hope that you do an epilogue and not leave us with a cliffhanger as to what actually happened. Our girls deserve a happy, peaceful and normal life.
Thanks for the story…
Thank you for the insightful comment. Yes, the last chapter was not the actual finale, that’s why the epilogue is coming up. Apart from being a teaser (a little bit ;) ) I also wanted to stay true to my story (the way some of my chapters were structured in the past.) Thank you for reading, i really appreciate it
I knew it was too good to be true that it was the end of the story !
Haha, you put that idea into my head when you suggested 50 parts of the finale. Alas, i can only manage 4. The epilogue is coming and that will a final end to the story. I really appreciate your comments. Honestly, one of the earlier comments you made (maybe 10-15 chapters ago (which probably puts it 5 years ago LOL), is one of the reasons that made me going…the other reason that i’m a stubborn foreigner that wouldn’t just never give up…thank you
What a gloriously intriguing masterpiece! Alice is fab in this one. Loving it and worth the time to await each chap!!!! BRAVA!!!!!!
Thank you, that was much needed words of encouragement…i really appreciate the comment.
