Out of Closet (TiBette time-travel romance), Ch. 68, Finale part 4C: Chapter: Last curtain – The End is Here, finally.
The rest of the hour was uneventful and went by pretty quickly. As soon as Alice’s test was over, agent McKinnon scheduled another appointment for their scans review with professor Kroll and FBI’s brain specialist. “Will next Monday work for you, ladies? I think it should be plenty of time for the scans to be reviewed and analyzed.”
They looked at each other and shrugged. Alice answered, as if she was a spokesperson for the group, “Yep, Monday’s fine. Can’t wait to see you admit that you found nothing and wasted everyone’s precious time.” She smiled sweetly at the agent and they all drove back to Tina’s house.
Finally, away from the prying eyes, Alice sank onto the end of the sofa with a heavy sigh, “We might be in trouble. We can fool the FBI regarding Helena or professor Kroll’s testimonies…it’s a he-said-she-said situation and we have already won. I can even beat the lie detector if they suggest that.”
“Are you saying you can fool the lie detector? How? From what I heard it’s practically impossible,” Tina smiled at Alice’s boasting look. “Nobody’s that perfect.”
Alice shrugged, “I’m not perfect but I’m very, very good.”
“I feel there’s a but coming,” Bette said.
“And you would be correct. I’m very good but I don’t think I can beat the neuro-science and magnetic waves. I’m afraid we need to go to my Plan C.”
“What was that again?” Tina asked wearily.
“Going back to 1886 and staying there.”
“This is out of the question,” Bette shook her head. “I thought we’ve already established that.”
“The FBI won’t leave you alone. If they find anything on those scans, they would whisk you away into some secret banker to do more experiments.” Alice took out the document she stole and showed it to Bette. It was an official looking document that had Bette’s photo and recommendation from Kroll to do an additional extensive testing due to a scientific breakthrough. Alice pointed to the very last sentence. “See, it said here that they will be looking into a possibility of recreating similar circumstances to achieve time travel and test its impact on the human body and brain. If you go back in time, nobody can find you there and, at least, you’ll be together.”

Thank you for the chapter!
But ohhh – no. I’m hopping Candace grabbing not Bette’s hand, but Helena’s. Both brunettes, both in dark cloaks. It could be, isn’t it?
Please post soon, we need epilogue ASAP! :)
it’s coming up on 01/20, a special day for me, so stay tune…and thank you for reading and commenting, i really appreciate this
Well, today already 01/20 :)
I should’ve been more clear: 1/20 in the evening because i was born at 8 pm so this is my b-day present to myself LOL
Happy Birthday then :)
Happy Birthday! Going to go read the epilogue. Thanks for this story – I’ve enjoyed it and will miss it.
Yes, i agree we need next part to know what happened with our girls!
Please, post soon!
And i also hope it wasn’t Bette’s hand!
Is this really the end? Not exactly a happily ever after ending in my opinion….
I think Alice’s explanation to the FBI is perfectly feasible. I would think that the FBI would have not put their criminal investigators on a case of claimed time travel but a special division who dealt with phenomena which were rumored to exist for which was not generally accept principles of nature – such as flying sauces, Big Foot, time travel, and aliens, etc. I would expect that the FBI would treat people like Helena and the Professor as slightly off their rocker…but this is fiction.
Now… I’m not sure that Bette and Tina have much control on where this portal takes them, but I assume its a single opening and a single exit. And reading about life in the 19th century and living it are two different things. Living in a community without electricity, indoor pluming, shoes designed to be worn on a left or right foot, no communication devices, and a life where the vast majority of time is spent acquiring money or food. A society where women are not just 2nd class citizens but for the most house holds domestic servants to men. A society in which homosexual attraction has to be hidden and never acknowledged even to the closest family member. And of course, the skill set need by Bette and Tina to survive? Being odd is not going to be their only problem. I’m not sure when you look at how hard that life would be, that running from the likes of Helena, Candace and the Professor is not a much better option.
Your story is unique and has been very entertaining. I for one have found the concept of time travel to be fascinating. But the thought of going to a time that was not my own and be trapped indefinitely would be terrifying. Bette finding Tina was her saving grace and was the only way she could truly survive the experience. But even this was not permenant, Bette had some ability to go back and then return. But my understanding is that the portal closes permanently with this last trip. At least that is what the Professor is predicting based on some science principles which have yet to be tested much less proven.
I know you have spent years writing this. I do appreciate it. I do hope that you do an epilogue and not leave us with a cliffhanger as to what actually happened. Our girls deserve a happy, peaceful and normal life.
Thanks for the story…
Thank you for the insightful comment. Yes, the last chapter was not the actual finale, that’s why the epilogue is coming up. Apart from being a teaser (a little bit ;) ) I also wanted to stay true to my story (the way some of my chapters were structured in the past.) Thank you for reading, i really appreciate it
I knew it was too good to be true that it was the end of the story !
Haha, you put that idea into my head when you suggested 50 parts of the finale. Alas, i can only manage 4. The epilogue is coming and that will a final end to the story. I really appreciate your comments. Honestly, one of the earlier comments you made (maybe 10-15 chapters ago (which probably puts it 5 years ago LOL), is one of the reasons that made me going…the other reason that i’m a stubborn foreigner that wouldn’t just never give up…thank you
What a gloriously intriguing masterpiece! Alice is fab in this one. Loving it and worth the time to await each chap!!!! BRAVA!!!!!!
Thank you, that was much needed words of encouragement…i really appreciate the comment.
