Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 34

Tina smiled and said after softly kissing Bette on her lips, “Let’s get out of here.”

Bette briefly acknowledged Candace with a nod and said politely, “Nice to see you again, Candace. Enjoy the evening. I heard the salmon is really good.” She took Tina’s hand and they went to find their friends.

After chatting with them for a few minutes, they were about to leave when Bette saw Kit standing in front of one of the paintings and talking to a tall handsome young man. Tina recognized him as Kit’s son, David, and they came up to them to say hello.

Kit gave Bette and Tina a heartfelt hug and introduced her companion. “This is David, my son,” she said happily and proudly, “He got accepted to a 2-year internship program with the LA Medical Center and will be staying with me for awhile.”

She introduced Bette as Melvin’s daughter and her half-sister, “Davie, this is Bette I told you about, grandfather’s ‘non-existent daughter’. And this is her girlfriend, Tina Kennard.”

“Is your father still adamant about Bette?” Tina asked, absently rubbing the small of Bette’s back.

“Well, now that David is staying with me, I think Melvin is willing to give me a chance…” Kit replied with hope in her voice, thinking about her last conversation with her father.

Place: Los Angeles, CA – the Planet

    Time: 3 days ago, 27 Nov. 2005

It was late Sunday night and Kit was closing the Planet at the end of her shift. She was walking around and making sure that everything was cleaned, put away and locked. She was closing the door to her office on her way home when she heard the office phone ringing. Kit considered the option of not answering it when she recognized Melvin’s voice leaving a message on the answering machine.

“Katie, this is your father. Will you call…”

Kit ran inside and hurriedly picked up the phone, “I’m here…daddy.”

“Katie, I’m glad I got hold of you. Are you busy right now?”

‘That was typical of Melvin,’ Kit thought bitterly, ‘No Hello, no How are you…always straight to the business as if last time we’ve seen each other was yesterday and not 5 years ago.’

    1. I’ve been a silent reader for far too long! I enjoy this story and look forward to new post. Sorry for contributing to your lack of confidence with your writing. There is no need for that! Keep writing and posting!

    2. Ok I admit I’m one of your silent and very lazy readers. I do enjoy this story so please keep posting and I’ll keep reading… silently (blushing).

    3. LMAO!!! If I wasn’t totally into your wonderful story yet, I would surely be now!… The one TV show that I was almost as crazy about as I am about the L word (I said almost) is the X-Files!!! And I love how you’re bringing it into your story through Alice. Reminds me of that episode of the Simpsons with DD and GA’s real voices in it. You wouldn’t bring Mulder and Scully into this tale, would you? LOL… Anyway, great chapter as usual, and I loved that tiny part about Candace, and Bette sliding her arm around Tina’s waist from behind… Adorable! Can’t wait to see what happens at the mansion, please post soon! Thanks ;)

    4. Alice better cool it or the gang will be visiting her in jail. I am thinking that Tina has the better of the 2 ideas. Send Tina to my house for the lap dance, I need lessons.

    5. I’m only catching up on this story now – thank you for reposting it, B&TF. Such a creative premise! Action packed too – shows the concept of ‘timeless love’ in a different light. :-) I especially liked the passage about Tina being Bette’s masterpiece, only even better up close than any painting would be.

    6. so glad to see this story back!!! i sort of remember a bit of what’s in the future but won’t comment for the first time readers.. but i’m absolutely thrilled you’re going to finish. I’m dying to know what happens!

    7. I have always loved all your writing and all your wonderful stories and this is one of my all time favorites! I am still waiting eagerly till you reach the chapter you initially stopped the story at. I still remember it and can’t wait to find out what happens next. So please keep writing and posting this amazing masterpiece and I will be here reading it till the end. Thanks and PPVS!! xoxo :D

    8. Well, I have been waiting for your update, so I for one am glad to see it! B&TF, your story is good and your writing is good…keep it coming. I will bet that you have more readers than you know.

    9. I’m always pleased when I see a new boat from you…will I be seeing an update of Shot Through The Heart soon? Sorry for my inconsistent commenting.
